Unsure why these were automatically rejected - please help

Please can someone give me clues as to why these 2 submissions were automatically rejected?

Submission 1 -

Title: Cancer Society, Masterton

Description

A place that provides support and resources to cancer patients and their families.

Supplemental Information

A valuable Healthcare support provider.

Submission 2 -

Title: Wairarapa Hospital (entrance sign)

Description

Wairarapa Hospital (originally Masterton Hospital) is the main hospital in the Wairarapa, originally established about 100 years ago. The current building was completed about 20 years ago.

Supplemental Information

The primary publicly funded Healthcare facility in the Wairarapa.

Whilst they were automatically rejected by the machine learning system, how do they meet criteria?

Neither of these submissions appear to be a great place to socialise, exercise or explore which are the core criteria for accepting something in wayfarer.

I think the automated process is also set up to reject hospitals since I’ve had a cafe at a hospital rejected automatically (and accepted on appeal). One of the rejection criteria is blocking emergency services, which is a common risk at a hospital. That means items at hospitals need to be carefully reviewed hence why the automated process might be more likely to reject

My recommendation with these is to look inside (if you have access), and find places within that could meet criteria. If there are none, then don’t submit anything further at these sites. However if there is a cafe, restaurant, garden with seating, or significant artwork then these kinds of things could be accepted.

Hello and welcome,

I also agree that neither of these places are great place to be social/exercise/explore, which all submissions must meet at least one of. A cancer society is usually a non-profit providing support to those facing cancer, and a hospital directional sign is letting people know how to get around the hospital. Directional signs are not eligible, per this clarification:

Now, if the cancer society does provide a space for those to gather for events or other social activities, it may be eligible, but if it’s just a non-profit supporting those with cancer and nothing else, then it’s not eligible.

It’s encouraged to review the Wayspot Criteria to know what may or may not be eligible. Another great place to check out is the Criteria Clarification Collection, which covers some of the most discussed POIs and locations. And if you have any questions about whether or not something may be eligible, feel free to post about them in Nomination Support and we’ll be glad to assist.
