Hello Wayfinders,
Happy Friday! Please note that there will be a temporary pause in some Wayfarer Map updates this weekend. For the next 48 to 72 hours, the Wayfarer Map will not reflect which Wayspots have newly become PokéStops, Gyms, or Power Spots in Pokémon GO. However, the Wayfarer Map will continue to display Wayspots that were previously identified as PokéStops, Gyms, or Power Spots in Pokémon GO.
Lastly, the Wayfarer Map will continue to display newly approved, removed, or edited Wayspots as usual.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we await further game updates next week.

When is the pause finished? I’ve had 3 new locations approved in an area with nothing there, but 48 hours later they are still not appearing in Pokemon go?
There’s literally not a single stop or gym in my area for miles

The post said up to 72 hours from when it was posted so I wouldn’t expect it for another 2 days.

Are we going to get rewarded for this down time ? Some free poke coins perhaps ?
For other mobile games if there’s some sort of outage they always gift currencies or items

Hello,
For clarity I am a fellow wayfinder and not a member of staff.
My view is that it is not the same circumstance.
Wayfarer is about finding and creating wayspots. What happens to them outside of that - for example whether they appear in Pokémon Go - is not a wayfarer issue as such. Very importantly not all the wayspots created will be used in the game.
There is also no set timeframe for things to happen. It can take quite a short time 2/3 days from submission to game or it can take months.
It is frustrating when we are waiting for things to appear as we want to start to play with them.
Can I ask if you understand the S2 cell system that is used for selecting what is used in game? And have you checked that your wayspots shoukd appear?
Happy to help double check if you would like.
They already appear on the wayfarer map.
Like I said earlier, there is zero things in the area where I put them. Absolutely zero for miles and miles of space. There should be no conflicts at all in the back end
I think this has to do with the recent PoGo event, so nothing changes during it. And it might just take a day or so for someone to switch it back on.
But i’m just guessing.
Do we know when this will be fixed?

Yeah the lack of communication is surprising

Go back and read the end of Tintino’s post. They are not giving you any coins…
There’s two new paid battlepasses now and I can’t in good conscience buy these if they can’t even fix a basic feature of their map based game…
You’d think fixing this map sync would be top priority before getting even more money out of their players !

There’s nothing to fix if this is a scheduled pause

It does seem that some wayfarers are mis-understanding the procedures.
Maybe I am too but this is what I believe to be the case (I am not a “Big Numbers Nominator” so I am happy to be corrected).
When a wayspot is accepted there are 2 syncs.
A: “Wayfarer Database / Wayfarer Map Sync” - This places your nomination in to the database and on to the wayfarer map. At this time it is not noted whether this is a Stop or Gym but marks them as “Not Used”.
B: “Pokemon Go to Wayfarer Database Sync” - This is where Pokemon Go updates the database confirming which will be Stops, Changed to Gyms etc.
It seems that it is only “B” that has been paused.
I have had 2 Accepted waypoints since the pause that have shown on the map as “Not Used” for a couple of days (just checked and they are still “Not Used”). Visiting the actual locations today and can confirm both are in the game as Stops plus 1 as triggered another stop to be a Gym.
Conclusion: If the Map is stating “Not Used” then there is nothing to worry about. If you have checked in person and it isn’t in the game this could be a totally different problem.

Not seen any announcement but my newly accepted waypoints are now showing on the map as “stops” and the one that switched to a Gym has also updated…

The PokeStop approved today is not appearing in Pokemon Go. Maybe I’ll have to wait 48h, but when it works properly PokeStops appear same day.
Hello and Welcome,
The normal process has always been up to 48 hours.
It can be same day but this will not always be the case…
- The acceptance must be several hours before the sync time.
- The daily sync is occasionally skipped.
If you post the co-ordinates we can check if it is on the wayfarer map and whether it is in an empty cell.
Good luck.

In this case, I think it’s to prevent any impact on the PoGo Tour Global.
If this assumption is correct, similar cases are expected to occur during the weekends when PoGo Fest Tokyo, Copenhagen, Chicago, and the Global event are held from late May to mid-June and mid-July, with Wayfarer map syncing being paused.
So when Wayfarer map syncing is suspended, I think the Wayfarer team should add a brief note in their announcement explaining whether the reason is due to a PoGo event or solely related to Wayfarer itself.
