I need some advice or assistance with a nomination that seems completely stuck despite having an Upgrade applied to it.
I am nominating a local Mosque in Mogadishu, Somalia. There are virtually no active local players or reviewers here. I submitted this nomination all the way back on May 4, 2026, and it has been stuck for nearly 3 months now (today is August 1, 2026).
I know that Upgrades are supposed to push submissions to a wider regional audience, but given our low player density in the Horn of Africa, the queue seems completely stalled.
any help would be appreciated.
The most recent reports of seeing “old age” nominations pulled into internal review for a decision are around 3-4 months. Tagging @wooperIooper to be sure I have this correct.
Internal reviewers seem slightly more busy at the moment, maybe you need to wait a bit longer. Are more people playing and doing wayfarer in your area?
No, I’ve only seen two or three players in the region where I live. There are also only one or two gyms in the entire city, so having more gyms and PokéStops is really important for the game to be playable here.
I’ve been waiting three months for this and still haven’t seen any results. I honestly regret not submitting more nominations earlier. If I knew it would take this long, I would have submitted a lot more. But without upgrades, it’s still a struggle because getting 100 points for just one upgrade takes so many hours of grinding.
So yeah, life is pretty tough for players in remote areas.
In your case upgrades are not really helping so I would suggest getting those nominations in.
Make sure you are only nominating locations that fit the criteria, not having many locations in the area is not an excuse to Accept anything. Having to wait a long time only for them to be Rejected is not going to be nice and may make you stop.
Please ask if you want people to take a look at the maps and make suggestions.
Thanks. I’ve read the nomination criteria, and I’ve done plenty of Wayfarer reviews myself, so I’ll make sure any nominations I submit meet the guidelines as best as I can. The main issue isn’t knowing what to nominate it’s getting the nominations reviewed at all. The last PokéStop, Gym, or any other POI added in my city was years ago. Despite the city having millions of people, there don’t seem to be many active players, so nothing really moves through the review process.
I’m just hoping a staff member sees this and can help or at least look into what’s going on.

Ooof. Yep this is a remote area for reviewers. The best thing is if you can learn about reviewing nominations and get other players to also review. Be careful not to influence people’s choices or accidentally form a voting ring that approves ineligible things. People as far away as Jalalaqsi, Buurhakaba, and Barawa are in your local review area and vote on your nominations. Unfortunately being a costal city, half your review area is water so getting locals to help is important for long term pokestop creation.
If you want to set your bonus here then the most effective spot is to set it in Wanlaweyn, Somalia. To encourage people setting thier bonus here it would help if AK0444 would submit everything they could find that is eligible. You can also post pictures here and ask for advice about something that you are not sure on before submitting.
There is no streetview and the satellite imagery is poor. To help reviewers confirm that your nominations actually exist it would be helpful to add supporting photos that show the nomination and also any rooflines or distinctive buildings that would be visible on satellite.
I found a review for a cafe that used a photo stolen from the internet. All nomination must use photos you took yourself or you could get banned. Make sure anyone submitting nearby has read the criteria and knows the rules.

Are you thinking of moving your bonus location to this area, or just checking it out ? If you do end up setting your bonus here, it’d make a huge difference since our review pool is pretty small.
also Thanks for the detailed advice really appreciate it Yeah, being in a coastal area definitely makes the review situation a bit rough. I’ll keep the review guidelines in mind and avoid anything that could look like influencing votes.
The tip about supporting photos makes a lot of sense too. Since there’s basically no Street View and the satellite images aren’t great, I’ll try to include wider shots that help reviewers verify the location.
I’ll mostly be submitting mosques for now since they’re usually easy to verify on the map and generally meet the nomination criteria. There is one nomination I’ve made that I’m a bit unsure about, though. What do you think of it ? its still in queue I’ll attach the image below.
