Wayfair is [mod edit]

I’ve been getting rejected for sending in all sorts of stuff ive personally seen as a pokestops, but for some reason when I sent literally the same type of pokestop by somewhere else it’s rejected. I’m pretty sure the moderators are worse or just as bad as discord and reddit mods.

Not a moderator, but just a forum visitor myself, but I can tell you, that you are 100% wrong.

All the moderators, ambassadors and staff members in this forum will do their utmost in helping people.

Sometimes they need to explain why something is not eligible, but also often they will provide tips for eligible stuff to submit.

I don’t always agree with the decisions, but I do think people here are willing to help, and also to correct wrongful decisions.

You are welcome to the forum even if you do not have a good attitude about Wayfarer.

This is your first visit here, so what is your basis for this statement? And what do you mean by this? Yes, mods will remove anything that doesn’t conform to the community guidelines.

Criteria changes over the years, wayspots get accepted incorrectly, and there may be subtleties to the points of interest you are seeing accepted that you aren’t aware of. If you would like to discuss something you submitted that you don’t believe should have been rejected, you can post screenshots, and we can discuss. There is a whole category here that is specifically for that purpose: Nomination Support

You know normally I’d agree but I’ve seen so many street signs as pokestops but the two I tried to do both got rejected. The pond I walk to got rejected. The pavilion at the church got rejected. They have all met the criteria yet they’ve all been “not acceptable” b without even a appeal option.

To be 100% sure about anything is crazy. Iobe how you know what I’ve submitted and why that got rejected. You must be clairvoyant to have that type of certainty about something I didn’t even go into full detail about. I’ve nominated so many places just to test the water and it nothing more than what Ive seen such as a pond or a pavilion in another town but when I registered the same exact things in a different town they get rejected

Having reviewed thousands of nominations, and having submitted close to 100 nominations, I can share the most common issues:

  • if you see the message that the automated process has decided that your nomination was rejected, it usually means the AI concluded, based upon all available data, that most likely the nomination would be rejected by human reviewers. In this case you have two choices, either resubmit with a different picture, or appeal. I’ve received this message many times, and I usually appeal.
  • A mistake many people make is submitting something on a single family private residential property, this is never allowed (even if you are the home owner, and also not when you could still reach it from outside the property). Many free little libraries have been submitted, but the majority is ineligible for this reason. But you still see many in the game, that should not have been approved.
  • Second big mistake is submitting anything on school property (under 18 years)
  • Graffiti is also usually not eligible, but still often approved.

On the other hand, churches, playgrounds, picnic areas, community info boards, trail markers from an official trail, shared/public pools, sporting facilities are usually very easy to get approved.

Could these be the experimental ones added by staff?

The announcement specifically says not to submit these.

This sounds eligible. Would you like to share screenshots to see if we can help you improve it?

I’m 100% certain of the fact that your accusation regarding the mods is wrong.

I don’t have a clue if your nominations were accurate.

Street Signs do not usually meet criteria. Scopely Explore (Niantic) a trailing using some in certain areas but these do not have to meet criteria.

Ponds will usually need an “anchor” such as a sign, fishing spot, viewing deck. If not what makes the spot you chose a better place to explore than any other part of the pond. Another regular error is placing the pin in the pond where there isn’t safe pedestrian access.

This sounds eligible but we can’t advise unless we see how you nominated it. I would suggest creating a new post in “Nomination Support” with all the details (photos, title, description, supplemental and location) and people will advise.

You get 2 appeals that return after 15 days. If you don’t see the appeal button it is likely that you have used them both and will have to wait.

Good Luck.

In order to be accepted, a wayspot has to not fail any of the rejection criteria

- it has to be safely accessible to pedestrians
- it can’t be on school grounds, single-family private residential property, farmland
- it has to exist at the location given
- it has to have a reasonably accurate title and description
- the photo cannot contain licence plates, identifiable people, unnecessary animals
- it cannot represent something that already has a wayspot
- the photo must be one that you took and have not posted elsewhere

It also has to meet one of the key criteria

- Exploration
- Exercise
- Social

You can meet all the first set of checks and fail because it doesn’t meet key criteria.

You can find something that meets the key criteria but make mistakes with the submission - bad photo, mislocated etc - which means it needs to be rejected.

It can take a little experience to understand this and for it to become second-nature.

This is not a good idea. There is specific Wayfarer criteria, and if you can’t say why yours meets it, then you should not submit it. Spamming ineligible nominations can lead to sanctions against your account.

Here is a good link to explain criteria. Read all four sections. Wayspot Criteria — Wayfarer Help Center

It was already mentioned, but here is the appeals information:

You’ve clearly not paid attention on this forum if you think the mods and ambassadors are not helpful. Not a day goes by where someone doesn’t come on here with a rant and a member of the team answers in the most professional and polite way possible, even when the person is being rude or is repeating the same questions that have been asked dozens of times here. It’s exactly why I would never do what they do because I want to be free to be snarky to posts like this one.

If it helps, Wayfair is a furniture company. Perhaps that is the issue?

More seriously, you have to remember two things when submitting stops:

  1. They are reviewed by other players. These people are unpaid gamers and are just human. They will make mistakes (both accepting bad subs and rejecting good ones). Most often this is due to a lack of awareness, or an unwillingness to spend too much time investigating. It’s rarely due to deliberate malevolence.

  2. Just because something got accepted before doesn’t mean that similar things are likely to get through every time. Maybe not ever again. Try and base your subs on the actual criteria - that way you should at least be able to appeal successfully (though remember that even the staff are just human).

Ultimately, it’s just part of a game. Even the best subs will sometimes fail for the silliest of reasons, so don’t take rejections personally, and don’t get too frustrated. Instead, get good. If you can, make the photo tell the story so even the laziest of reviewers can instantly understand what’s going on. Avoid the silly mistakes (typos, photos of humans and numberplates, mentioning Pokemon in the description etc.) and maintain a thick skin for when you do everything right and the masses still say no.

Most likely, the other one should have been rejected.

Hello and welcome @OculusRandy

Wayfinders are welcome to express opinions on this forum as long as they remain respectful and use appropriate language.
I have removed a word from your title, which is not not appropriate.
I believe you can edit it, if you wish to replace it with a similar sentiment but appropriate language.

Explain this then.
Where’s the “uniqueness” for this. I’ve tried doing this exact thing to another area and got rejected

This is an experiment staff are testing out, explained here:
