Wayspot Location Edit Request - Base Prof. Julio Escudero (Antártica)

Hello Wayfarer Support Team,

I am requesting a location correction for the existing Wayspot “Base Prof. Julio Escudero”. Currently, its marker is misplaced on the neighboring cell to the left, overlapping with another nearby Wayspot and preventing it from syncing into Pokémon GO.

As shown in my attached map screenshot, I have found the correct placement. Moving the pin slightly to the new location (marked with the blue square on the map, over the actual facility structure) will fix this technical cell overlap while maintaining absolute physical accuracy inside the purple cell.

  • Wayspot Title: Base Prof. Julio Escudero
  • Current Coordinates (Incorrect): -62.201277, -58.962974
  • New Target Coordinates (Correct / Empty Cell): -62.201329, -58.962969

Thank you for your support in keeping the map of Antarctica accurate and fully functional for our community!

The procedure to make a location correction is to access help chat at https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help
A chat box will pop up in the bottom right corner, where you can request a location correction

You can give them concrete evidence that the current location is incorrect, and that your location suggestion is accurate.

Please note that they only make corrections for real world issues. Trying to move something into an empty S2 cell for game manipulation is abuse. Staff do not even acknowledge S2 cell algorithms.

How many people are actually playing Pokemon GO in Antarctica in-location, anyway?

1: The map you have shown is PogoMap which uses user entered data that is not always accurate or up to date.

2: Moving the waypoint as stated will not create another stop / gym.

3: The current Location would be seen as correct and although you could argue that your suggestion is “more” correct it can be seen as Abuse and “could” lead to warnings / suspensions in Wayfarer and GAMES.

4: Staff will never move to “place in to an empty cell”. As @cyndiepooh stated above they do not acknowledge the cells. Never mention the cells when attempting a Location Edit.

5: The only wayspot that is not being used in Pokemon Go is “Módulo de Análisis Biológico y Climático” (White Circle).

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation and the warning, cyndiepooh!

I really appreciate you showing me the correct procedure through the Wayfarer support chat. I didn’t know that mentioning S2 cells was against the guidelines, so your advice saved me from a big mistake.

I will close this request here and submit it directly through the help chat using real-world location accuracy as the reason. Thanks again for your time!

Hello @patsufredo!
There are actually about 10 players here right now, including scientists, researchers, and people who maintain and exercise sovereignty on behalf of Chile at the bases (like Escudero and Frei). During the summer, more people arrive, so the player community grows a bit. It is definitely a very unique and challenging place to be a Pokémon trainer!

Thank you so much for this incredible breakdown and for the satellite map, SlimboyFat71!

Seeing the actual structures layout clears up everything for me. I truly appreciate the warning about game suspensions; I definitely didn’t mean to cause any system abuse.

I will stop this public request right now and, if needed in the future, I will only contact support privately based strictly on real-world facility access without ever mentioning cells. Thanks again for your time and help!

Well, nice to hear that. Hoping your community can grow further!
