- Wayspot Title: bijen hotel in de groen gordel
- Location 53.243303, 6.149623
- Location ***
- City: Buitenpost
- Country: The Netherlands
Dear Niantic Wayfarer Team,
I am appealing the rejection of an invalid Wayspot removal report. The “Insectenhotel” (insect hotel) located at the green belt / bicycle path south of Buitenpost has been completely destroyed by arson and is permanently gone. The title of the location an object names it a bijen hotel (bee hotel).
Please note that Google Street View is rather inadequate for this location, as it does not cover the bicycle path where the object was located, street view from the road nearby does reveal that the object is gone.
As official, undeniable proof of its permanent destruction, please find the regional news report covering the fire department extinguishing the arson fire at this exact structure:
https://www.rtvnof.nl/insectenhotel-bij-buitenpost-in-brand-gestoken/509548/
Additionally, the regional Geocaching community (which utilized this location for the cache “De Trije Brêgen”) has officially updated their public listing text to confirm the total loss: “Helaas is deze door brand verloren gegaan en dus verwoest” (Unfortunately, this was lost to fire and thus destroyed).
Since the physical feature no longer exists, please remove this Wayspot from the network.
Thank you for your time.
Mod Edit: Removed thrid-party tool link
That looks like very specific vandalism. I would suggest it was specifically to remove this Gym, except the news report is from 2020.
I live 500 meter away from that gym for a couple of years now and have never seen that object in person even though we walk there regularly. Neuighbours who lived there since the neighbourhood finished the first three streets confirmed it was arson with fireworks but what neighbours say is hardly proof. This news article was all I could find about it.
The actual bug/bee hotel was replaced with something for birds to nest in, this is now an max power spot.
For some reason kids here like to vandalize bug hotels and what not. In my old town there was a new park, looking real good amd everything and also had a bug hotel but did not even last 2 months. Not sure if it was an active pokestop considering the parks proximity to other stops.
If you don’t get a response from Scopely Explore, I would take a video and link it, making sure that video ties back to streetview as well as including the area where this wayspot was.
Thanks for the tip, I am on vacation right now (hence the belated replies) but when I get back I will make a video as additional proof.
Thanks for the appeal, @PayDay1986! Due to insufficient evidence, we’re unable to remove the Wayspot in question.
Have a great vacation, and whenever you’re back and able to capture that video or geotagged photos, feel free to drop them in this thread so we can take another look. Cheers!
Hello, thank you for your reply and evaluation.
I got home today and would like to make a good video tomorrow because it was already getting to dark to make a good video today. What exactly would you need to see in the video?
In pokemon go you can see the gyms location should be near a swallow tower or house martin tower where the birds nest in. Which makes sense because the tower made up for the loss of the bughotel. Would it suffice if I stand in front of the tower, turn 360 degrees and make a video of my surroundings there? With appropiate lighting of course. Or should I walk the entirety of the path from bridge to bridge? I guess I should avoid filming people as well? I have no idea how to fix the lack of street view.
Bridge to bridge or a 360 degrees vid in front of power spot?
Edit, my apologies for adding third party stuff, this time I have only added a screenshot from your own game.
Later edits:
Provided a better screenshot of the path.
It is OK to post images from streetview (and other mapping services) into this forum.
Take a video that starts with something that is clearly matching to streetview/aerial images and walks towards the location where this wayspot was. Make sure you start from a wide shot a good distance out before coming closer.
if you can include something that marks the video as being from now, that helps.
