Wayspot Title: Iris-Brunnen
-
Location (lat/lon): 47.355844,8.533065
-
Additional Information (if any): This Wayspot was removed after I asked help chat to move it to its real location. This is an officially listed artwork by the city and can be found here (inventory number 332-00): Iris-Brunnen . It is safe to access and is not a generic fountain. I don’t know why this was removed, and I hope to see it restored on the map as soon as possible, as it is a landmark in this park. In my opinion, it would be unfortunate if this incorrect decision led to it being removed from Pokémon GO when one of the nearby Wayspots gets chosen in the next sync. Please reconsider this decision, as it is officially listed as artwork. Thank you.

Additionally, Google Street View confirms that the object is located safely within the park.: https://maps.app.goo.gl/b3kPEsutL6CTtCao7
Not to throw yours off track, but the same thing happened to me today. I tried to correct a misplaced Wayspot that is clearly right in front of a correctly placed Wayspot - and they removed the correctly placed one and left the misplaced one where it was. I think they were going off a photosphere from 2020 which shows a similar item in the background, but this was installed in 2021. I have sent a property owner form to try to fix this, but a bad day for help chat today.
Will edit in the ticket number in case anyone there wants to look: Ticket #41097140
Oh, this sucks
— I’m sorry to hear that. I really just wanted everything to be located as accurately as possible, and now this beautiful fountain has been removed from the park in-game. I’ve definitely only had good experiences with help chat before, but this one is really disappointing. This doesn’t make any sense to me. It’s really unfortunate this happened — I wish I had used the in-game location edit instead. ![]()
Hopefully yours will be reinstated with that link. Mine just had the generic “taken action … in accordance with our policies” wording. Did yours give any hint as to why they removed it?
It said something like, “We moved the Wayspot to … but also removed it because …,” or something along those lines. Unfortunately, I lost the ticket, so I can’t provide their full response. ![]()
(I just got a reply from the form report. They left the original, correct Wayspot removed, but moved the incorrectly located Wayspot to that other Wayspot’s location. So no harm done, I guess, in my case.)
this has been happening more and more
Im starting to refrain from using help-chat.
Firsr it seemed like a gift. But now, rather not engage with it.
Better to keep the map.inaccurate than if a risk is there that the mentioned spot is removed.
It’s currently really the only way to move things easily and “safely”. I don’t like doing regular location edits on foot. It’s very prone to unintentional misplacements, for example due to rain on the screen (I’ve had location edits go straight into voting after submitting, leaving no time to withdraw them and risking a ban for misplacement or similar). Also, I sometimes completely forget to edit a location when I’m there, so it’s convenient to do it at home.
Patiently waiting for the possibility to edit on the Wayfarer map. ![]()
(oh i replied to that reply, submitted new photo evidence, pointed out that the photosphere in the area they must have relied on for the original decision was from 2020 but the poi was from 2021, and the removed wayspot was reinstated. however the one that is live in pokemon go has switched, but no harm done in my case, i guess.)
So there was definitely a Pokémon GO sync yesterday, and one of the nearby Wayspots appeared in-game (I’ll check later which one). That means this appeal will now only affect the Wayfarer map, or it could possibly appear as a Power Spot, depending on which of the two nearby ones is currently in-game.
Is there any faster way to appeal cases like this so they can be resolved before the Pokémon GO cutoff and sync?
I’m not even sure if this will be restored on the map, as there seems to be some issue I’m not seeing yet. I was wondering if it might be related to the nearby Chinese Consulate, but it’s clearly not on that property, as you can see from the gate surrounding the area. I couldn’t find any information about property boundaries on the local geoportal, so I’m using the gate as a reference.
Being near to something, but not actually on the property, can still mean it is picked up in a geoblock if one exists. A property owner can be affected by things near to them and Niantic have to take this into consideration.
Thanks for the appeal, @V1sionGrid! We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
