Wayspot Submission - Rejected due to location not matching

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Love Isn’t Rare

  • Location (lat/lon): 38.941367 N, 94.531395 W

  • City: Kansas City, Missouri

  • Country: United States

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any):

Hello everyone, I am newer to Wayfarer and just made an account to ask about this Wayspot submission to see if I should submit an appeal or just try again. At my work campus, there are three different entry lobbies, each with it’s own #LoveIsn’tRare painting by a local artist. One of my friends (in another building and department) has submitted the other two paintings (Location in P Building - 38.941087, -94.528993, Location in A Building - 38.941195, -94.530482), and since it would not be visible through street view as it is inside the lobby, I attached a coordinate locked photo for reference. If there is any advice on how to modify my submission to give it a better chance of being approved that would be great. I did see that it went straight into the Wayfarer Review stage and did not go into voting, so I don’t know if that changes anything. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums

I personally don’t put much faith into the coordinates that are printed onto photos, because it is too easy to fake them.

I would use the Web Submission (Niantic Wayfarer) as you can provide up to 5 supporting photos. Usual main photo, usual first supporting photo (which shows the POI but from further away) and then you can use additional photos to prove the location and tie it back to what is visible on, e.g., streetview.

I just happened to take a bunch of photos yesterday for multiple POI that I know won’t be visible on streetview, so with a series of photos that progress back from the POI, I can demonstrate the objects exists at the locations.

Welcome to the forum!

I would love to see screenshots of the whole nomination from your contributions page, plus the gps coordinates from your submission email if you still have that. The location you gave in the first post is on a building, so I am not sure we can explain why it was rejected for location without those coordinates. They will be after the photos.

I see you did paste the first shot with the rejections and nomination photo. It will help to see where you pinned from the map piece, and we can see what your supporting looks like.

Edited to show an example of where the submission email shows the gps coordinates of the pin

[That was bizarre. Briefly, this forum decided to translate my username as “willow-row”. Unfortunately, I refreshed the screen instead of taking a snapshot.]

Here are the photos of the submission and the email with the coordinates

I appreciate the advice, I can take more photos from the outside/inside to allow reviewers to get a better idea of the location and proof of it’s existence.

Yes I understand that completely, my friend told me to include photo metadata to prove the location matches the photo, but I was unsure on what the best way to do that would be. This app I downloaded puts the time/date/location on there, but that was just to try and help. And thank you for the advice, I will try and do that to best show reviewers where the information is and how you would get to it from a streetview location.

When I picked up the coordinates from the email, I picked up this: (38.941366, -94.531402)

That looks like it is on a building in layers view, but looks like it is outdoors on satellite:

This appears to be an indoor nomination, so that is probably why they rejected it as the location not matching.
