Did you receive anything like this? This is 1st warning from abuse ladder system
If you dont have pop up warning notification EVERYTIME you login in both pogo and wayfarer, then afaik its just educational email. You can read more below
Thank you both for your helpful replies. No I didnt get a popup so this isnt even a warning. Okay then i can live with it. It is still confusing why some political boards are wayspot but it is what it is. I will see how niantic will react to the appeal but okay.
I really wouldn’t appeal this. It’s not eligible, keep your appeal for something better.
If you have already appealed it then you just have to wait or ask helpchat to withdraw the appeal.
As it is a submission for which you have been officially told that it is not suitable then it would not be wise to appeal.
It is great that you have been nominating successfully. However it is important that you don’t rely on what you see as a guide to what is acceptable as mistakes can happen and things get on the map that shouldn’t.
If you are mainly submitting in Nuremberg I would expect that a lot of the obvious nominations have been made. Looking for new things will be tricky so please do ask in Nomination Support if there are submissions that it would be useful to have advice about. It may save some of the frustration you have experienced ![]()
Hi @PinkGigaRaichu , the email you received was for your notice regarding the submission mentioned; this is not a warning. It did not go on your record and hence would not be considered for the abuse ladder. This message is intended to help you improve your contributions.
We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria before submitting any further Wayspot submissions/contributions.
Regards,
PLEASE put somewhere in the email that this is an educational email and not a warning. It is terrifying to get these.
Thank you for your feedback. I will pass it on to our team for consideration.
Regards,
Thank you very much for the clarification. I even got the clarification via e-mail because of my appeal. I want to agree with cyndiepooh: it would be very good that if you clarify it in the e-mail. I would not even open the thread here.
This is the first e-mail of this kind that i received and i submitted 823 wayspots from which 301 got accepted so I was very worried. I even joined the local hiking club so that i can contribute more wayspots for me and for the community.
I am living a few kilometers north of nuremberg but I play as an admin of the nuremberg group with a few thousands people in. I encouraged the community in nuremberg to submit wayspots to fill the empty map. We even make some meetings in which we only submit wayspots in nuremberg. To be honest i won’t tell them from this e-mail I got. That would lead to some people quitting wayfarer.
I will double down on what @cyndiepooh said.
I received one of these warnings back in April 2024. I think it is pretty concerning that it have been over two years since I received this email and nothing have changed since then.
At over 800 nominations and 300 acceptances that you mentioned above, that ratio sounds like you’d really benefit from some advice on potential improvements, as most of your nominations are being rejected.
Like we mentioned, this nomination you made didn’t meet any criteria- the issue wasn’t necessarily to do with politics. We just want to help people so they don’t get warnings and suspensions, and have good success with wayfarer.
Hey,
That’s it.
drücken blind accept, egal was dahinter steht.
Niantic rightly don’t tell us how these processes work but if I had to guess then maybe 1 (or more) reviewers reported it as abuse, Niantic took a look and saw it wasn’t abuse just a subject people feel strongly about so as it doesn’t warrant a step on the abuse ladder so just send the “educational email”.
Not a great answer but it’s all I can think of.
It’s pretty clear that a nomination like this isn’t suitable as a wayspot. I get that.
But before we jump straight to issuing “educational warnings,” maybe we should take a moment to think about why this keeps happening in the first place.
It’s not exactly a shocking revelation, but the root of the problem is that the general PoGo player base — including this person — has been taught the wrong eligibility criteria for wayspots.
And let’s be honest: there aren’t many wayfinders who actively correct those misunderstandings.
Funny how misinformation spreads at light speed, but accurate criteria somehow never catch the same momentum.
And historically, almost none of these ineligible wayspots have ever been removed from the Map.
So now we have a world full of incorrectly approved pokestops that spin just like legitimate ones, all thanks to those same mistaken criteria.
In other words, we’ve known this problem was coming for years, and we’ve simply chosen not to fix the underlying cause.
The Wayfarer team and the Ambassadors really need to start correcting the eligibility criteria that have been miscommunicated to everyday PoGo players.
And frankly, the people who spread those incorrect standards in the first place are the ones who should be getting warnings — not the players who were misled by them.
Cleaning up the root cause means identifying and removing (or correcting) the sources of that misinformation.
And yes, that also means actually removing ineligible wayspots so they stop reinforcing the confusion.
Otherwise, cases like his will keep happening, and sooner or later someone will report these players retroactively and get them banned from PoGo as if it were some kind of ex post facto punishment. That helps no one — not PoGo, and certainly not Wayfarer.
Ambassadors are not Niantic employees, and it’s not expected of them to propagate criteria. We appreciate everything they do on their own volition, but they are not obligated to.
Just like any other platform or real-world activity you engage with, it is expected and required that Wayfinders review and understand these guidelines before participating in the Wayfarer community. Please note that not knowing or being unfamiliar with the criteria cannot be used as an excuse for violations.
To help our community succeed, we have added the comprehensive nominations criteria directly to our Help Center. Before submitting or reviewing on Wayfarer, it is expected that all players carefully read through these guidelines.
I think it is perfectly fine. Criteria can change over time (hiking trails) so to correct the map every time is a huge effort and from a technical point very difficult (with gyms changing, elite gyms, showcases etc.). I was only shocked by the e-mail but the subject is now clear to me so it is okay.
