Hi, I have recently submitted the nomination below and received a rather confusing rejection.
I’ve seen other notable modern architecture buildings get Pokestops in Amsterdam, so I didn’t expect an issue. Especially since there’s another Pokestop (playground) right next to the exact spot I submitted this one.
However, this was rejected on the basis of being private property (this is not a single family house, so this shouldn’t be a legitimate reason to reject this), another reason was it being inaccessible to public (also not true), and being unsafe to approach (it is a residential building, how would that be? there is also a huge sidewalk visible on my second picture).
I am out of my 2 appeals, shall I resubmit? I don’t see a reason why this should be rejected. Am I missing something?
Hello @SeeminglyRain
This looks like a fascinating building! I would definitely consider resubmitting or waiting for your appeal to replenish.
A few questions/comments to possibly improve the nomination:
- in the supporting information you say the reviewer can look up the building for more information. I always try and make it as easy for them as possible and include a website.
- The photos you shared are gorgeous. And I will assume you took them yourself. But for clarity submitting a Third Party Photo (taken from the internet) is considered abuse.
- Where is the pin for this? Hopefully at the front entrance. My concern is that the photos are taken from a distance to get a good view of the architecture.
- Another item to consider is not using an Upgrade. Upgrades expand the pool of reviewers from a greater distance away. So they may not understand this nomination for whatever reason.
Welcome to the forum @SeeminglyRain
You are right, reviewers got it wrong with those two rejection reasons. This is a very unique looking building with some very nice modern architecture, and if it was something that had come through my review queue, I would’ve almost certainly voted favourably on it (so long as the text you provided was good, of course).
The building has its own Wikipedia page which you could include a link to in the supporting info if you go down the resubmission route, but personally I would be tempted to appeal this when you have an appeal available. I would hope that the appeal reviewers recognise an interesting building when they see one
Hello, thank you for a quick reply!
To answer you questions:
- I can include a specific link next time. There are many places where this is featured, so my thought process was that seeing many sources in search would give the nomination weight.
- I took the pictures myself, thank you!
- The pin is indeed on the building itself, by the entrance (at the start of one of the walkways that go up - the roof terrace is publicly accessible). The picture is from that angle just for the aesthetics.
I will try resubmitting then.
Nice, thank you for the confirmation. I made the description using that Wikipedia page. I will add the link when I appeal or resubmit the nomination.
