Just curious and confused. I have tried to do my part to review submissions. Twice, I have received notices that I have been suspended for my voting following a pattern (basically just clicking approved on everything). Yet this is NOT what I do. I always take the time to read the description and look at the location. As I don’t know anything else about the submissions other than what is provided by the submitter.
My confusion is that there are only 7 very general thumbs up or thumbs down questions and MOST submissions have already met the criteria (AI has sent it to review) so how if I agree with it being a good submissions do I not get flagged.
I know that I am going to get the response that “not every submissions that makes it through AI is a good submissions” and I do not give a thumbs up if I don’t think it follows the criteria. But if I get a long run of ones that I believe meets the criteria, I get banned from voting. Just don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. Talking about in my local discord I was told to randomly put a thumbs down about every 6 votes. That seems to negate the whole premise of the system. It was also suggested that I vote too quickly. I already know what the thumbs up and questions are so yes I do tend to click them quickly once I have looked at the submission. Is that it? Do I need to wait like 10 seconds between each question? It makes it hard to “help the community” if I have to play games or trick AI to be able to HONESTLY vote.
Submissions that you get to review are NOT automatically eligible. The warning you are getting appears to be correct just from your opening sentences.
If everything we got to review was eligible and should be accepted, Niantic would not be asking for people to review wayspots.
The ML system weeds out the majority of trash submissions. It cannot weed out all of the the borderline/ineligible submissions, because to do so would mean it inevitably removes eligible submissions.
Never assume a submission is eligible just because it passed the ML system. I find myself rejecting the majority of submissions. Treat each submission on its merits.
This is an example of the absolutely wrong information that exists on social forums. This advise is garbage, as you suspected.
You should look at each nomination carefully. I almost never have a submission that gets all thumbs up. Even a sports field in a verifiable location still gets a thumbs down for socialization. Cafés are socialization but not exercise. Often I use " I dont know " on location accuracy when satalite is bad and streetview does not show it or it is inside.
This is so wrong. Anyway take your time reviewing. Afaik reviewing cooldown happen if you review too fast. Are you grinding review for upgrade? Slowing down can help you notice detail that might be missed otherwise.
IDK is also a valid response. I very rarely have a review that does not have at least one IDK vote.
Please do not try to game reviewing. By the time I have clicked the main photo to be sure I am not missing anything, done a Google Lens check to be sure the photo is not posted somewhere else if that seems likely, checked out both satellite and street view to be sure the location is likely to exist there, read all the supporting information (if they give any), and looked at all the supporting photos, then that has taken enough time not to trip the cooldown trigger. If I do all that and still can’t decide, then I skip, but just skipping through too quickly to easy ones can be an issue.
Interesting. Not to go off on a tangent, but almost all sport courts get a thumbs up for social and exercise from me. Thumbs down for explore. Sports are a very social pursuit, IMO. Well, team sports that you would play on a court.
You obviously didn’t read what I wrote, because I said that I Do review each submission. I obviously know not everything that gets through AI is not necessarily eligible.
Thank you, this is very useful information.
