Why do reviewers do this?

I would understand it if this was a sticker based trail marker, or poster in a window, but this is a K6 Phone Box. Ok, I should have included a link from a site that shows it’s protected, but I suspect it would still get rejected for the same reason. There are 2 other K6 phone boxes in the area that have been approved… so I don’t get why this got rejected… GAH!!!

(PS… not looking for a Nomination support… just venting)

Is that your final answer?

I meant Phone Box.

The option in wayfarer if “Not Permanent or Distinct”.

The feedback message is “Temporary or seasonal”.

So, if the reviewer does not think it is “Distinct”, they will select that option, and the user gets a useless message.

So if you reviewed this… would you think a historical K6 Phone Box isn’t permanent and distinct?

Do you remember the last time you used a pay phone, because I sure don’t? And UK pay phone boxes were quite unique in their designs, and I bet there aren’t many left around either, with almost everyone having a phone on them these days.

I’ve seen people use the payphone that’s just around the corner from me.

Then maybe that’s why it’s seen as indistinct, since it’s still in use? Reviewers may see it as a utility still.

The ones still in use usually arent the red style, theyre more modern and ugly and no one nominates those lol

They look like this but usually not this clean

Hence you can see why the older red styles do get nominated and usually accepted as they are pretty rare nowadays

There’s a difference between the modern Phone cubicles and these historical K6 Phone Boxes. These Phone Boxes (specifically at this location) - K6 Telephone Box - Design Museum. These K6 Phone Boxes have historical significance and these ones are protected.

Urgh, so annoying.

Ok, not in the UK, so leaving this to that part of the world.

I would think it is permanent.

I would not know if it is distinct or not since I am not in that area.

Around here in California, seeing pieces that look like that is pretty common for anything that claims to be a “UK inspired pub”. Heck, there is even one in a chain restaurant nearby called “Spaghetti Factory”. Whether those are actual historical pieces or merely reproductions, I don’t know. But, for around here, I would say “not distinct”.

This phone box isn’t located in California.

That is why I said since I am not in that area.

Makes sense if theyre reproductions in pubs

Here they are the originals, often been restored or well maintained, often repurposed too onto little libraries or seed share banks etc

Deep breaths

I wouldn’t submit a K6 unless there was something special about it. Although it’s a design classic, there were a lot of them.

Admittedly a number have been removed and a large number repurposed.
So where as a K1-3 (mostly k2 ) I would think of as more unusual a K6 I might consider not distinct.
And you have said there are others nearby - near enough to show on dupe check?
If so then not distinct does not seem unreasonable?

This one with the other 2 have protected status. Will try and dig out the link tomorrow if I can find it.

Wow theres not a single one in my area, I notice them in outlying villages but there’s none of these within walking distance of here at all. So I tend to think theyre cool and special!

I guess the common-ness varies across the country!

Do you mean listed status? Did you give the listing?
It does look a little unloved?
Is it still functioning as a phone box?

Maybe resubmit?
