Why have these been rejected

Here are the links for the national cycle network and the dog exercise field.

Here are the rest of the supporting photos and descriptions as it wouldn’t let me put more than five photos.

Whenever I submit an NCN marker, I’ll always include links to two posts on the old forum where one shows the kinds of marker and the other shows Giffard’s response that they’re eligible. With them being on the wayback machine the posts don’t show up completely correctly due to how it displays (or doesn’t display) archived images. With that in mind, I may just attempt to grab screenshots of them and effectively reconstruct them for reference on this forum, as the current trail marker clarification post doesn’t have them as examples.

Edit:

The image quality didn’t necessarily work out too well, but this was the general gist of things.

The titles being the same on two of those may have been an issue. I would add in something that mentions the location of each specific marker to make it unique. Other than that, I don’t have any feedback.

Tying in with another recent topic:

After seeing hundreds of these types of markers around where I live, I think they are also pretty much “Not Distinct”.

Just because something can be a wayspot doesn’t mean it should be a wayspot.

These should be fine. I would echo what @hankwolfman says but they should be fine as a dog park or markers. I also prefer to ensure titles are distinctive and make a reference as to why the marker is here eg at a gate, at a fork in the path etc.

The current clarification is good.

@nexushoratio
The markers are designed to look the same so you know you are on an official route.
Their function is to represent the route. It is the function that is important. They are nearly always at decision points, so are needed to keep on track. So just because we might see a lot nearby it is not a reason to start the individual assessment from a low point.
If it is a good nomination regarding the trail etc, a clear photo, happy that it could be there then it should be an accept.

I felt like i didnt need to add specific locations for each trail beacuse they’re clearly on different structures and my supporting photo helped show this

Titles are to be “unique”. This isnt just an issue for a reviewer, but for anyone thats gonna be using the waypoint.

One that I’ve appealed has been rejected aswell

Resubmit ……
but personally I would take out the #. It could easily be mis read as point number 15 on this trail. I hope they are not all titled the same?
Give it the title National Cycle Network Route 15 .and some distinguishing feature eg Acacia Avenue.
It will help your chances.

@NotASmurfTorb trail markers are a subject I avoid. The Mutt Run one though.

I cannot see the POI position but was it the main photo of the sign on the gate ? Some people may not like a waypoint on a gate that is the size of car access…

You couldn’t share that one again so we can get a closer look. Dedicated dog parks should work. My local one has benches, gazebo. However Maddy’s Mitt Run is not open to the public. And it is bookable at 6 pound for 1-3 dogs for 30 minutes. 8 pound for 4-6 dogs for 30 mins. And you get a code to open the gate. So you need to work that one a bit as some locals may object to paying to walk their dogs…

Hence why I would love to see the nomination closer as it may need some tweaks

\ By the way - do you ever get to the peak district ? Actually anyone else go there? Different subject though

I’m close to Peak District. Go for walks there.

I don’t know how to private message (don’t think I can.) Not a wayfarer subject though as I need to clean up of stuff in a couple of waypoints. So rather take it off line as more PGO related  But really just to see if anyone going past Alstonefield any time

It is the main and only access to the dog park. Theres a small car park to the right were you can access a gym and a dog grooming place.

I would say this is a place where locals don’t use it too much as there is vast countryside to walk, its more for dogs who aren’t good off leash. About the paying, that’s not an issue as it’s intended for the public to use. Might I add I think i can count how many free dog parks there is on one hand in my county and they’re all in country parks. I believe that my city doesn’t even have a designated fenced off dog park (paid or free)

I live very close but I’ve never been (I’ve gone through it on buses but never walked through it). One for the future. Long walk finished with a pint and lovely views.

Well share the nomination in full and lets have a look.

If you ever get to Alstonefield. Any time in the future. Has a great pub and fantastic walks. The views are the walks. the pub view. Fire and little village green outside with Berts bench.

Any how. chuck us the full mandys mutts and lets nail this
