A nomination which violate Wayfarer Criteria going through

Hey everyone I hope you all are doing well. Today I want to talk about something important that is going on in the wayfarer community of Saudi Arabia. Why is this a problem and where will this lead if we can’t do anything about this?

9-10 Months earlier I became one of the people eligible to start nominating wayspots as I was talking to the Madinah (from Saudi Arabia) community. They invited me to one of their wayfarer groupchat which was made in Riyadh.

This group chat basically ignores all the rules and criteria that Niantic has set up for the players to ensure safety, obstruct emergencies, and Generic businesses, a wayspot photo that is tilted, taken from a Car, in some cases blurry pictures where objects can’t be seen properly are going through. There are abuses of wayspots also happening such as placing buncha wayspots next to your house that don’t even exist are also going through, and sometimes taking a picture from Google Maps is also going through, the list goes on.

I have reported 11 Wayspots during my nomination time before I got into a car accident and couldn’t nominate a wayspot for Wayfarer.

If you look into the mosque picture. If you see there is scratches everywhere. This is because this picture was taken from car which doesn’t fit the criteria.

The swingset nomination picture is tilted which is also goes against Niantic Wayfarer criteria.

The shop (روائع النجوم للكماليات) if you notice why top part is blue? This is because it is also taken from Car which goes against Niantic Wayfarer criteria.

There are many Wayspots are like this! Tilted, taken from car, some of them even have people in it. Reporting all of them is gonna waste energy because I have to take my bycycle and travel each district to see which wayspot is accurate based on criteria which one is not. It’s not that hard but it is okay requires 5 to 20 km of biking to each location.

Some people respect wayfarer criteria and policies that they enforce us but some do not.

What can be done about this? Should i visit each district, add photos, and mass report ineligible pictures and wayspots (if they’re not exist)?

Hi, I removed pictures that showed in-game names and accusations from your post. Please refrain from settling local conflicts and group chat drama on this forum.

If you have evidence of abuse, you’re welcome to use the form pinned at the top of this forum with your evidence. Low quality photos can be improved, though, and from experience wayspots or photos generally don’t get removed by the Niantic for this reason only. Fake nominations and nominations on SFPRP probably stand better odds, again if you can demonstrate it is the case. Good luck!

I suggest cataloging all the waypoints with the info that is requested for appeals:

*Wayspot Title:

  • Location (lat/lon):
  • City:
  • Country:
  • Additional Information (if any):

Once you have that, use the reporting abuse link at the top of the forum and submit all the information at once. They can review the information and determine how they want to proceed.

If you have evidence of the chat group discussions you feel is directly relevant to those waypoints you can gather that also and include that, if the discussions still exist and a direct link can be provided that would probably be best instead of having to take screenshots.

If after that no action is taken on the waypoints you will just have to accept they’re there and make the best of it. :man_shrugging:

You can report them if you see one.

Generic business need to be reviewed case by case. Business that appear generic to you may be more significant to the local community

This is unfortunate but if the wayspot is already approved, then only foto replacement is needed

But again. Reporting those wayspot are not your resposibility. You are free to report them if you are able to do so.

Personally with recent import in indonesia, i have seen many ineligible wayspot, i can report them but its not my responsibility and i dont have time to do it. I am busy enough as it is.

Report or no is up to you

Thank you for the solution. I am currently working on King Fahd Park project. Once this is finished. I will improve most of the wayspots.
