Hello! First time posting, so I’m sorry if I did something wrong.
Today my nomination for a Picknick-place got automatically rejected, and I don’t really understand why. It is a great place to meet up and socialize, and go for a walk after. Was it maybe that only 1 picknick table was prominently visible on the picture? I understand a singular picknick table doesnt fit the criteria, but I thought multiple, which make an area, did fit.
Title: "Picknick Area De Onlanden’’
Desc: Place to have a chill picknick during a hike or bicycle trip through De Onlanden’’
On google satelite you can see that the picknick area does actually exist.
Kind regards!
Welcome to the forum!
We don’t know exactly what the machine learning model that is the automated process is looking for. My guess is that it could not identify this as a picnic area. The table blends into the landscape, and there is more landscape in the photo than picnic tables.
Picnic areas are excellent places to be social, and do meet criteria. I would recommend resubmitting this. You can see that simply cropping the photo you used to square would make the focus of the nomination clearer with this snip of your screenshot:
I usually take my picnic area photos from a corner of a main table with others showing in the background. Here is an example:
If you prefer, you can appeal this rejection instead of resubmitting. We get 2 appeals, each on a 15 day counter before we can use them again. I usually try a resubmit first, since I have more nominations than appeals. If you don’t see the Appeal button on your contribution, you don’t currently have one to use, but there is no time limit on making an appeal.
I suggest you to resubmit this. You can try getting multiple foto 1st so that you dont need to come here to resubmit if it got AI rejection again. Used foto in nomination cant be used , it will be auto rejected. So each resubmission need to use new foto. Alternately, try getting the object in supporting foto. Your supporting foto show great view, but i am not sure if its the view from the table
Hey! Thank you, and thank you for the tips!
I will be resubmitting it with your cropping tip in mind. I’ve already used my appeals on other POI’s so resubmitting it is XD. I agree that I should get it on more prominently, but I thought it wouldve been a better looking picture this way.
Kind regards
Gonna have to let the submission go sadly, my dumb self already deleted the picture because I needed space on my phone, and the picture that is downloaded from the site doesn’t look very great xD
I think you can download the used pictures from your Wayfarer account, if that helps. Cropping them a bit should (hopefully) be sufficient that they would not be rejected as duplicates.
Both of the photos you show on the screenshots in your Contribution Management are links. Click them and you will get the full resolution photos. You have to specifically click until you see them in a new window, NOT save those you see on the page. Good luck
I didn’t respond to this because I thought you were saying the original wasn’t good enough to crop and resubmit. I have often redownloaded from the site, as @Xenopus explained, for a resubmission. I will “remaster” the photo if that is an option from my gallery.
Thank you! I didn’t know that was a feature, I’ll be resubmitting a cropped version
I am fairly certain that reusing a rejected photo results in an ML auto-rejection. I wonder if using a crop of a rejected photo has the same result.
This photo certainly focuses more on the picnic bench and has a secondary picnic bench in the background. If you can get back there, a new photo is worth trying from a similar angle.
Ah, didn’t really know that but it makes sense. Don’t think I’ll be going back though as it’s quite a long hike to this picknick area in the middle of nowhere
I have used crops of rejected nominations with no issue before.
you can try an appeal of either rejection if you want to.
OK, I was brainstorming
Given the distance, an appeal is the best chance then.
i don’t think that is an unreasonable idea! i would never use the exact photo that has already been rejected, and we know they do tweak the machine learning model.
I can debunk that with this example:
Initial nomination:
Outcome = nonsensical community rejection reason > second nomination - same main photo:
Outcome = even more nonsensical rejection reason > third nomination - same main photo:
Thanks. Maybe the ML system will only auto-reject when the same photo is used after it rejected the first time, if it does auto-reject.
