Bonus Location - Dec 2024 Make Up

Hello Explorers,

It appears that the Bonus Location Reset for Dec. 2024 failed to go through. In an effort to make good on our 4x per year promise, I’ve gone ahead and shipped the reset today allowing you to change your Bonus Location starting today. This will not count at the first one for this year, that one will be later this year when we have our first challenge.

Whoot, looking forward to new challenge as well. I hope I make at least +1 on ingress badge in 2025.

Well the Niantic Devs need to make sure to keep all our Game Apps working and quash any bugs that people are reporting so that experienced wayfinders can go out and Explore (lost in the woodlands) and Exercise (on outdoor gym equipment) & Socialise (with real people/players) & then Submit there findings.

With the news of shutting down 32 bit devices starting to flow through this is going to hit players hard and is forcing them to buy new devices many people of which can’t afford newer devices.

I have a High End Android 14/15 device and I can’t even get POGO or Ingress to load on it so I expect an Influx of complaints will start coming in soon while not Wayfarer Related it will happen and moreso when it finally hits in June 2025,I’ve been playing on an Android 11 Device in the meantime before the recent updates killed it.

This is not a moan just a personal observation of what’s to come.

Are there really that many players on 32 bit devices now?

It’s probably more of a pain for the teams to support legacy devices than try to optimise for them, so makes sense.

I have no idea how long ago Android 11 was, but in my experience Android’s don’t tend to last long with their OS and what is supported. I can only remember that Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow (which started in 2017) didn’t run on Android 11+ and that app closed back in March 2023, so sounds like it’s quite an old OS.

I think it really depends on what android, flagship vs economical versions?.. my phone is 4 years old this month and is on Android 14, Android 15 came out in September. I feel its super old, but pretty much up to date in terms of OS.

This day and age people don’t want to spend on the latest and the greatest all singing and dancing smartphone if there previous model is still working they cancel there contracts and switch to SIM only cheaper deals using there existing handset.

This android 11 I’m currently using is around 4 years old as it’s from our previous contract before we upgraded to an Android 13 device which got upgraded to Android 14,while Android 15 is still fairly new it’s what people feel comfortable with here in the UK networks are switching off 3G transmitters so lots of non 4G/5G handset users will be affected obviously it depends on the users pocket if they want to continue playing with the accounts they’ve built up.
