Clarifications on Pokémon Go Power Spots [Discussion]

This is why I say the Wayfarer Team is the best at Niantic. We asked for clarification and a explanation on Powerspots and we got it. It may not make everyone happy, but we now know the process Niantic is looking for and at with. I look forward to discussing this with the community. It’s going to be interesting to see how this evolves over time. Thank you again @NianticThibs and team for the communication. Please keep it coming.

Took a couple of months, but at least they heard our feedback and are making changes.

Please stop stealing my maps.

The first photo this person is using. I used it in a forum I created, and I am using it without permission.

If I were to request a wayspot, it would be an infringement of a third party’s rights, so please urge him to delete this comment and give him a warning. Thank you.

This isn’t the thread to bring this up in. You should flag the comment if you have an issue with it.

Also, you have to right to any image you post here. I shared it so others would know how the PoGo nominating map looks like. Not an offense that is against the forum policies.

Stop shifting theories. You’re to blame.

Again, it’s not against forum policies. If you share an image, it can be shared elsewhere in the forums.

And again, you can flag the comment. I won’t be removing the image because I did nothing against policy here.

It is normal to get permission from the person who owns the photo before using it. Let’s stop trying to be righteous by confusing what we do with what we comment on here.

You can’t own a screenshot that could be taken by anyone; they aren’t trademarked or copyrighted. And no, that is not a policy here that you need to ask for permission to use an already posted image in the forums in another thread.

Again, you can flag the comment.

I am shocked by the selfish remarks and am speechless. I would prefer not to get involved. This person is always saying that he is right about what he has done, so there is no point in talking to him. I will leave my opinion here. I will comment again as soon as I find something. Thank you.

There’s no distinction between the two, they all appear the same color.

Glad to see some clarifications on this! Couple things I’d like to ask:
Is it possible for adjustments to be made so that unused wayspots have a higher priority to be used as power spots over the imported locations? Having extra density is certainly appreciated, but in areas that already have ample density the imports can sometimes feel a bit…out of place.

Speaking of imports, Ingress (maybe other games too) currently exclude these outright. But wayfarers don’t have a means of for lack of a better term “upgrading” imports to be on the same footing as manually submitted waypoints. Not too big an issue for the recent wave of imports, but it has caused some basketball courts to be excluded from ingress due to the old NBA all world imports. Any chance that this could be addressed at some point?

And finally going back to power spots, any chance of asking the PoGo team about allowing them to provide gifts to players like with stops & gyms? This would be a nice way to insure the hard work people put into submissions that wouldn’t be seen before get a bit more recognition.

@NianticThibs any advice to offer here?

I think they have already gotten better at doing this after the initial tweaks where it’s possible, but I agree 100% Wayspots should always be priority :star_struck:

Yeah, good question. One Wayspot near me is for a local independent bookstore, and now that’s it’s been a Power Spot a few times, I’ve wondered about submitting it to be a Wayspot.
