Hello Explorers,
Mark your calendars: our community forum is moving! I’m thrilled to share that on April 3, 2024 we will be starting a new community forum adventure. As we pack our bags, there are a few things we’d love to share with you in preparation for the move.
We’re incredibly grateful for the amazing community you’ve all built here on the forums. Since our launch in 2020, many of you have been here from the very beginning, and your contributions have been instrumental in transforming this space into the thriving community hub it is today. You’re all invited to join us in our new community forum. Don’t forget to bring that spirit of exploration with you!
Here’s some of the things you can look forward to:
- Exciting New User Experience - we’ll be reshaping the community space to be more user friendly and easier to navigate for new users.
- A collaborative fresh start - we’ll be listening to the community changes you wish to see and working with our Ambassadors to bring those to life. Let’s build a new community together that recaptures the gold nuggets already established.
- A better moderation feel - we’ll be working with our team and Ambassadors to level up the moderation while fostering a safe, fun, and informative community.
Here is what you can expect in the upcoming weeks.
- The new community forum will launch Apr 3, 2024.
- Our current community will become read only on Apr 3, 2024 and officially close on Apr 15, 2024.
- The News category will be the only content officially migrated over.
- Explorer authored content can be screen shot and shared in the new forum if relevant or needed.
- Free tools can be used to access older posts and content that isn’t migrated over i.e. Wayback Machine.
- Creating a new forum account will be as easy as using your Wayfarer eligible game account.
- Please note you’ll be required to have a Niantic ID. If you do not have one, you’ll be instructed to create one upon your first sign-in attempt.
- If you experience any issues with signing in, please contact us using the Wayfarer Help Chat.
- New Ambassador Privileges
- Ambassadors will have some additional forum moderation privileges to ensure the community continues to be a safe, fun, and inviting environment for all Explorers. Some of these new privileges will include editing, deleting, and closing of threads and posts. We will test this out and revisit as we see needed.
Why are we moving?
- Our current forum provided an excellent foundation for building a great community of Explorers. As we continue to grow, witness greater community success, and make more improvements to Wayfarer, we’ll need a forum that will empower us to provide the best user experience for our Explorers.
Where are we moving?
- The new forum will be accessible here → community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com
- Please note this link still redirects you to the current forum. Only after the launch will it direct you to the new forum.
- If you wish to still use the current forum until April 5, 2024, you can use this link after the launch → wayfarer.vanillacommunities.com
What will happen to my content?
- All of the content that is not migrated to the new community will be deleted on April 15, 2024. Please make sure you screenshot your important content, copy and paste your important content into the new forum, or use tools such as the Wayback Machine to access this content in the future.
- Please note that the Bug Tickets & Invalid Wayspot Appeals categories are not a part of the move. If you wish for your content in these categories to be moved, please copy and paste the text or post a screenshot of it in the new forum.
Will my current sign-in work?
- Yes, but you will need a NianticID. If you do not have one, you can create one HERE
We’ll be providing a step-by-step guide on how to migrate your accounts and get settled in the coming days.
We’re confident that the core of what makes our community special is all of you and we know the new forum will provide a space for all of that to thrive. You’ll find the same passionate Explorers, supportive community, and a fresh slate for insightful conversations.
