Rejected POI Removal Appeal

  • Wayspot Title: Freedom Tree

  • Location (lat/lon): 33.774727,-117.935804

  • City: Garden Grove

  • Country: United States

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): The wall, plaque, and tree pictured in the point of interest do not exist at this location. The wayspot is over 10 years old, so I am unsure of where this exists, if at all still. Google Street View (link here) corroborates this.

On a separate note: This is one of a few stops and gyms in the area that are misplaced or misrepresented that I’ve received rejections for. Would it be recommended I make new threads, or just make posts in this current one?

edit: the following are rejections I would like to appeal as well

  • Wayspot Title: Guardian Owl of the Library

  • Location (lat/lon): 33.777321,-117.937317 (Google Street View Link)

  • City: Garden Grove

  • Country: United States

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): This was a generic pest control Owl statue (Examples on Amazon here). The Statue no longer exists at this location either.

  • Wayspot Title: Garden Grove Community Garden

  • Location (lat/lon): 33.774417, -117.932884 (Google Satellite View)

  • City: Garden Grove

  • Country: United States

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): This public community garden was replaced by a garden owned by a private company. The original garden has been completely removed and replaced by individual garden boxes within a shopping center as of 2022. This is visible in the Google Satellite view (street view has not been updated yet)

You can appeal multiple rejected removal requests in one thread, just as long as you provide all info for each. You may want to edit your original post to include these, if you want to take that route. Staff will review each one and let you know what the decision is for each as well.

Thank you for the feedback! I’ve updated accordingly.

Thanks for the appeal, @MoreMordred. We took another look at the Wayspots in question and decided that they do not meet our criteria for removal at this time. However, we’ve moved the Wayspot “Freedom Tree” to its correct location. If you have additional evidence to share like geotagged images or photospheres, please submit a new appeal with additional information and we’ll take another look.
