I originally spotted this Wayspot on the Intel map and it looked totally out of place… An outdoor basketball court inside of a supermarket. Clearly it isn’t located there, nor was there a basketball court there before the shops were constructed (Google shows a small outdoor shopping plaza there in 2008, the earliest available image I could find, but still no basketball court nor room for one).

Initially I reported it as removed because there isn’t an outdoor basketball court there, but after looking closer at the Wayspot in Ingress I realized that the street address of the Wayspot is in a completely different location on a street 3.9 kilometers away from where the Wayspot is currently placed.

Currently the address of the Wayspot is Via Giovanni Battista Fauché 14 which has been a supermarket for more than a decade. The address listed on the Wayspot is Via Dino Villani 3, which is a park and is the probable location of the basketball court. The distinct red court is visible from satellite photos of the park area, so it would seem likely that this is the true location of the Wayspot.

This appears to be either a glitch or something like that, or possibly an abusive move was made at some point and the basketball court was moved 3.9 kilometers away from it’s location to be situated inside of a supermarket.

The Wayspot photo shows the red court, and the distinctive cream colored apartments in the background.

The address on the Wayspot is Via Dino Villani 3.

This is a photo from Street View showing the parking area of the park with the same apartment building in the background. The park is located at Via Villani 3.

And this is an aerial view of that same area, where you can see the red court.

The current location of the Wayspot is at Via Giovanni Battista Fauché 14. That location is a supermarket and has been for at least 10 years.

The nearby Wayspots all have correct addresses but this one is completely out of place. As you can see from this itinerary map, it’s roughly 4 kilometers away from the address written on the Wayspot itself.

I would like to request a second look at this Wayspot because something is off with it. I’m not sure it necessarily needs to be removed upon further research, but it definitely isn’t in the correct place right now. Thank you.

Thanks for the appeal, @aliccolo. After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspot in question.
