That looks like it’s behind glass, is it supposed to be outside?
That picture was taken of something behind glass. The lack of historic streetview makes it hard to tell if it was ever here and therefore hard to categorically say it has been removed.
It makes me wish we could see the supporting photos somehow, whether it was behind a street facing window or in a display case would make a big difference here.

I added the Street View so the shop windows can be looked at
If it never was there to begin with it doesn’t need historic street view data? Just a recent one?
There is a possibility it was inside, behind glass. Not being able to find it on historic streetview means not being able to prove it is no longer there. It could still be there, just not where the wayspot is. In theory only, but that possibility might be enough to scupper the removal - even though it doesn’t currently exist at the wayspot location.
Being able to see the supporting photo would be really helpful, but this won’t ever happen.
