- Wayspot Title: えんむすび"ののぼり
- Location (lat/lon): 35.011769, 135.676267
- City: Kyoto City
- Country: Japan
- Additional Information (if any): “えんむすび”ののぼり” in the title refers to the banner that says “えんむすび” in the Wayspot photo. “えんむすび (Enmusubi)” means “marriage,” and it is believed that worshipping at this shrine will bring good luck in marriage. However, this banner with “えんむすび” written on it has now been removed, and I have applied for its removal. Note that this banner was tied to a pillar and was easily attached and detached, and we believe that it was installed only during certain periods, such as festivals.
Two photos of the current location of this Wayspot are shown below.
In particular, the photo above shows the location of the torii gate where the “えんむすび” banner used to be in the Wayspot photo.
As you can see in these photos, it has now been removed.
Welcome to the forum @Nakkun !
Is the shrine still there? Only the banner has been removed?
I don’t quite understand why you think the Wayspot should be removed. You may want to explain a little more for the team.
(Google can’t translate えんむすび"ののぼりto English for me)
@cyndiepooh
Thank you for your reply.
As you can see in the photo in the reply above, the shrine still exists today.
This Wayspot is the Wayspot for the “Enmusubi” banner, which is probably temporary and has now been removed from the location.
Note that the “えんむすび"ののぼり” means “えんむすび banner".
By the way, “えんむすび (Enmusubi)" means “marriage” in Japanese.
I think the Wayspot is (and was always) the torii (aka arch).
IMO it just needs a title edit.
Thanks for the appeal, @Nakkun. We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
