Why do Reviewers keep denying my contributions? *

That is a footbridge.
And it takes the SW coastal path which is hundreds of miles long.
And it’s absolutely fine.

The question here is “Why do Reviewers keep denying my contributions?”
As long as reviewers can tell from satellite, that’s fine. But it’s not obvious in the pictures. I would make the supporting picture prove that it doesn’t have cars. Not every reviewer goes to the trouble of switching from map view to satellite.
It could be a contributing factor.

This has all been addressed in days prior.

As far as reported with this, no human reviewers have been involved.

I have been playing and spending $$ since Pokemon Go since it started. I’ve been so frustrated with getting nominations approved or updated that I totally stopped playing. It just shouldn’t be that difficult! I still get wayfarer emails and read them once in while just to see if anything has improved, and I see that it hasn’t. I’m dissappointed too!

Write it like an academic paper.
Your who , what where and why and why its historically significant.
Your topic sentence/thesis and 3 supporting points.

Your target audience is the entire Niantic Games Playerbase.

We can only reflect reality through these nominations and it is a complicated reality we live in.

Reading the above, presentation and feedback is a valuable way to increase your odds of acceptance or guide you why particular submissions are difficult. Consider making a new thread over at Nomination Support if you’d like to have this discussion for your own nominations.

In the meantime, the Criteria Clarification Collection - Niantic Wayfarer Community may give you pointers over some common topics.

This is what is putting me off playing now I’ve hit 37. I’m not steong enough to take on battles for big pokemon so been enjoying casually playing and was excited to unlock pokestops but every one has been denied. I check daily. I even remove the pokemon word and try adding history. Its a really bad concept and more waystops shpuld be added without thos insane criteria also in the app it mentions pokemon amd pokestops but according to this and admin which you only find out on forums you can’t memtion pokemon so that is why so many get rejected. As well as not saying the right keywords. But also is contradicting is I see awful contributions with rubbish photos and barely any info but i accept them because i know that person tried their best and i try mine too. Its like an impossible exam every suggestion i do.

So… congrats on getting to Level 37. The rules you dislike are the same rules everyone has to play by. Niantic has 3 or 4 games that are active, and I’m sure they will bring out more games. The Wayspots that get nominated may become available in other games, and having titles with words such as “Pokemon” (exceptions may apply) is not helpful for other games. I know people will say “But I am only submitting for Pokemon Go!”, but in reality you are not. You are submitting your Wayspot for inclusion into a database that may get included in other games.

I’m sorry you don’t like the rules, but if we all have to abide by them, and the majority of us don’t have issues with them (with a few exceptions), then the rules shouldn’t be changed because a few don’t like them.

If they have barely any info, rubish photos and are an “awful contribution” Id hardly say thats their ‘best’. Its the submitters job to make the best nomination they can by providing accurate details and photos. After all, theres a chance other people will see this in game so put some effort in to it. Sadly, a lot of people arent focused on making good quality wayspots they just want things to interact with. So yes, there are some very low quality wayspots. Voting in favor of wayspots that dont meet criteria or the rules given to us is definitely not advisable as you could get action taken against your account for doing so. This has probably been mentioned above but its worth mentioning again: I always recommend the Criteria Clarification Collection. It is a great guide that covers a lot of different eligible and ineligible wayspots criteria and can help you get a better idea of what would be a good nomination.

I can see what the user is trying to capture but may not be the best photographer or describe it much. As someone who struggles to get their own contributions submitted i understand the crazy difficult exam like structure the contributions have to be so i am supporting those who may just get overlooked as i can tell there are some snooty users on here as reviewers and so far it hasnt made me have a lot of faith in this community minus a few kind and nice users on this thread. I follow all the rules & criteria when submitting/reviewing whilst also taking on new knowledge from this side as in the app specific it does mention pokemon and why you want this as a pokestop. Maybe Niantic needs to either reword this in the app or users here realise it’s for that game specifically and be kind. I dont know. It’s the game saying this, though, not the users’ fault. Anyway, this thread is settled and closed cheers for your input :+1:t3:

This just made me laugh. Read the entire thread. Cheers for your unnecessary comment.

Agree, if it’s a bad nomination (accuracy, spelling, photos etc) then it’s a reason for rejection even if it’s potentially a decent wayspot. I’m not too bothered about the description and the photo being a work of art, but if it doesn’t meet the standards then I’d personally sooner not see it in-game. Submitters should take their rejections as an opportunity to learn.

I have literally done this so far my previous rejections were automatic and no human actually reviewed them. But a few now have and since then i learnt new advice from this side of the games as in pokemon specific app it asks about why you want pokestops and the pokemon community. It can get very frustrating and not easy for new level 37s to understand its the whole of Nianic games.

Yes, this exactly! Mine before was denied becayse the photos were either taken at night or at absirt of side view to capture a sign fully can’t quite explain, also a bride i oreviously did didnt show the whole footbridge as i wanted to get a bit of the ocean view in. But then i submitted it at night time properly and it got approved. I try to add history and research but also make sure i don’t mention anything pokemon haha. But yes spot on with your comment!

To clarify, and just for future sake if someone stumbles upon this thread, if the mention is in the supporting info it shouldnt be denied. I personally ignore it, because yes, it does ask you to explain why its a good pokestop/portal in PoGo. So if their supporting info is pokemon specific I typically act like it isnt there because likely the individual doesnt know better and that isnt their fault. However, if its in the title/description and it isnt relevant to the location/item being nominated that sadly does result in an accuracy denial. Ive seen a few that were really well done and then I get to the end of the description and it has a pokemon mentikn, breaks my heart everytime on the good ones. It would be nice for them to reword it and just have it prompt “explain why this item/location is important” or better yet “Why is this a great place to Socialize, Exercise, or Explore?”. Wouldnt solve all the problems but would definitely help solve some. I wish you luck on your future submissions and I hope you have a good day!

I’m level 43. I agree. I think this affects a lot more people than what they’d like to admit. I even had people offer to tutor and ‘look over’ my submissions. I actually stopped playing Pokemon Go because anything that’s so NOT user friendly really needs to be revised. Voices are not heard and I only get snarky comments about how to submit better and those are the rules etc. I think some changes need to be made to make this more fun. It’s a game after all! A game to have fun with friends, not some college essay contest where you guess what people want to hear. I get Wayfarer emails and check back to see if any progress has been made in addressing this issue but so far, no luck. People even redirect me to open my own thread or whatever when I comment on posts like yours. How about it just gets better and fixed instead of trying to “fix” the players. But no one listens. Crickets.

That’s true, and makes me happy whenever I think of it. We begged 8 years for decent documentation, and the staff and ambassadors finally got it done in 2023 - and a really good job of it!

I don’t think they’re going to listen to our pleas to change the nomination text tho, away from saying PokemonGo/Ingress, Pokestop/Portal, Trainer/Agent. (The rest of the wording is exactly the same in both games.) Niantic’s reply is that they don’t to break the immersive experience of being in your game’s world. I think the wording could be improved even within those parameters tho. It’s just not a priority to them.

Also, if your nominations are rejected, look for rejection reasons here Niantic Wayfarer It’s not always helpful, but sometimes it clues you about what the reviewers or AI saw as disqualifying.

As @RoIi112 has identified, this clarification is made in the materials shared with folks that are able to nominate wayspots for the Niantic games.

It may not be the most intuitive information to read. And sadly, since the test was abandoned, I don’t think many nominations read over this information very often.

Additionally both Ingess and Pokemon Go nomination pages favor game immersion over clearly stated rules during the process. It makes for some amount of confusion.

But ultimately the rules are there for all of us to see and follow. It can take awhile to get used to the ins and outs, but you are here having the discussions, so you are ahead of the curve!

Best of luck and have fun
