30 Day Account Suspension For Unknown Reason

Please read through this for information about the abuse ladder:

It does not need to build, as others have said, it can jump to a timeframe based on the level of severity.

I know you guys are looking through your email to see if there is anything from Niantic. If it is a Wayfarer violation you should get the 3 emails shared earlier in this thread. But note that this could be based on an offense from one of the other games (Pokemon Go, Monster Hunter Now, Pikmin). So consider if you’ve done anything that would break Terms of Service (ToS).

Likely a Niantic employee will set up a DM with each of you and be able to share more information. Forum users are not able to DM, only staff and moderators.

Just to note, we are no staff so we do not make the rules…

I have not seen 10 years given instantly, I am not saying it hasn’t happened but if so the offence must have been “big”.

My only suggestion is to wait on staff to DM you, you can then reply to them privately with the facts known.

If you still want to post here for advice we will try to help but if the offence is correct personally “Sit It Out” would be my only advice.

Yes, punishments can actually be discussed in this forum, and yes we do see discussions about the steepness of the abuse ladder.

However we have also, very recently, seen very serious abuse, so we do also understand that sometimes the consequences have to be significant.

Most people here are willing to help you, and sometimes punishments are revoked by staff, if some evidence is provided, people here willing to give tips of the kind of evidence needed.

Since I had seen no warning or received a prior ban and therefore had no inclination what would I need to prove that?

Very likely staff will send you a message with the details, if indeed the ban originated from wayfarer. If the ban is pokemon go related they will let you know, but won’t be able to help you.

After you have received the details, you can, if you want, share what the cause was, depending on the reason, we can help identify what to do.

Is it wise to pursue it further? Idk what I did wrong but if I unknowingly did something wrong would I be worse off escalating it than taking the ban?

Niantic staff are reasonable people. Talk to them calmly and honestly. If they tell you that the reason for the ban is something that you did do, own up to it and promise to be more careful in the future. If it is something that you did not do, you can have them double check the facts they are seeing and supply any evidence you have. I would appeal a false ban without hesitation.

If you look on this forum you will see cases where after further review/ evidence staff have overturned suspensions. Cyndiepooh has offered really solid advice.
So frustrating though it is at this point it is best just best to wait. Normally they respond within 24 hours.

Thanks for the input everyone. Hopefully I will get a response soon. That being said if one of my wayspot requests led to this suspension then that’s unfortunate but I’ll take it as an opportunity to learn more I guess.

How is your luck going with resolving this issue?
No responses yet or an email from Wayfarer explaining what the ban was for but I did email termsofservice@nianticlabs.com, and finally got in touch with a live agent.
They were very vague at first but eventually said the following:

I just got home from Japan and leaving in several hours again for Chicago, it will be very unfortunate to not be able to play with my community because of the title edit, which at this time is the only likely issue.
This was not a nefarious or malicious upload, but what I believed to be a legitimate upgrade to the current name: it is possible I accidentally clicked the wrong Pokestop as playing for hours in a packed event can make mistakes happen, however an honest mistake to a name edit does not feel like a 30 day suspension is warranted.

I haven’t gotten a response unfortunately.

Idk how much luck you’ll have with the ban appeal I think it’s just automated.

All appeals are reviewed by employees.
