AI-Generated Submissions

I came across a few AI-generated submissions while reviewing. I always report them during the review process, but each day more of them are showing up in my review list. I’m a bit worried that the frequency of my reports might lead to my own account being flagged.

Here’s what I came across today:

I find that one of the tell-tale signs of AI is when the same image is used both as supporting information and as a cover image (cropped version) since AI often fails to generate multiple versions of the same image with any degree of consistency. Another reason why I believe this is clearly AI is the text. It’s in polish, but what it tried to say is: “Adam Małysz - Orzeł z Wisły, Skoki narciarskie”. What it ended up with is something like “Adam Malksz - Orzel z Wiłly, Sioki Narcisrme”. Then there’s also the low resolution of both support image and the cropped cover image.

Here are more AI examples which already made it into the game:

I already reported the second wayspot as well.

I’m a rural player myself, so I completely understand wanting more in-game locations, but this is just getting ridiculous.

What is the community’s take on AI-generated submissions? What do you do in these situations?

Please keep up the reporting, and know you are not alone.

I report many many AI-generated wayspots every week. Google Gemini can identify if something was created using Gemini by embedded SynthID watermarks which makes it easier for some spots. AI is getting increasingly better at submitting fairly convincing supporting images unfortunately

You are reporting in good faith with reasonable reasons to effectively ask for wayfarer to look at this to decide, so you will not be in trouble.

I suggest making a note of the address of the fake wayspots and checking back on them later in the Wayfarer Map, very often they will get through (even the really obvious fakes), and also where there’s one fake there are often others..

That’s what I do! It really is suprising how many clearly AI-generated spots get through
