What is the large segment of the population that has to remain hyper vigilant?
If you have to askā¦ā¦.
Not at all.
There could be a variety of reasons thatās why I asked.
OK, well women overall need to be very aware of their surroundings in most places. This is of course, not 100% true for every woman but for probably the majority weāre always aware of who is where and what they are doing. Then there are people who physically stand out from others, whether it be skin color or other physical characteristic.
If youāre different, youāre watching whatās going on around you. If people are hanging out in places that are odd, not expected, it worries you. Maybe it shouldnāt, but thatās the world we live in.
My argument is, letās keep things designed for games out of places that could make others worry.
Of course but that could be applied to any place where a group of people are.
Iām not sure why itās creepy.
Like I said in places where people donāt typically congregate. Thatās really what makes it more creepy. You expect people in Parks to hang out, you expect people in malls, In dining areas on hiking trails, etc.
Letās take the issue of bathrooms, for example. Bathrooms tend to be off by themselves in a corner or a back area of a restaurant for example. Itās harder to get past people or like lead to have to engage with them in these out-of-the-way places. And again right or wrong, thereās more worry that people will behave inappropriately when there arenāt other people around in these more secluded private places.
I fully understand, and I think most people experience as well, that probably most of the time itās fine. But I and most women I know have had enough experiences with others making them feel uncomfortable, that you worry when people hang out in places that are not designed to be hung out in. Itās just the reality of existing this world.
Again, my point really is only letās keep way spots out of areas where people donāt expect others to be congregating, or may expect some level of privacy like in a bathroom. Thatās all. Thereās so many other places out there to nominate and put into the database that these places just arenāt necessary.
And by the way, I appreciate you engaging in this conversation.
I think thatās a legitimate concern for society in general.
I honestly donāt think those concerns can be applied to a group of four or five Go players standing staring at their phone.
Personally I would just ask them what they were up to. Obviously as a male thatās easier for me although I know my daughter or wife would do the same.
There are lots of places in game that I would be less inclined to do the above, outside pubs and certain areas. I donāt think my concern should limit them from appearing in game though.
More importantly why is @cyndiepooh spending an unhealthy amount of time hanging around menās bathrooms?
As you know, you have your own experiences a male. I am also very glad to hear that your wife and daughter would not have any concerns. Thatās great for them.
I do suspect, however, among women they may be in the minority, unfortunately.
I could be wrong. I can only base my judgments on my lived experiences just like you can with yours.
We play miniature golf at Mutiny Bay and have a meal at Loganās Roadhouse every time we make a family trip to Myrtle Beach. As you are aware, I can spin the Pokestop from quite a distance away without venturing into the menās room. āSensitive locationā has not been something we could report in game previously, so I reported them this time. I was hoping the reports would be accepted, but had my boys take photos as back up for the appeal. As expected, being able to explain in the comment section that these are located in the menās room made no difference. They were pleased that I got to use their photos XD
I find it beyond ridiculous that we even need to have a conversation about whether or not a Wayspot INSIDE a bathroom is sensitive.
Get out of your own headspace and think about having your phone out for photos, scans, or something that even just looks like either of those things. Itās inappropriate. If someone must disrobe in a space in order to perform the main function of the space, there should not be a Wayspot there.
Like a swimming pool?
So the location should be classified as āinappropriate,ā not āsensitive.ā After all, people arenāt mourning their loved ones in menās washrooms.
Wellā¦ermā¦Ok, I wonāt go down that routeā¦
You do not get naked in a public swimming pool and you know that. Stop arguing for the sake of arguing. āIn philosophy and rhetoric, eristic (from Eris , the ancient Greek goddess of chaos, strife, and discord) refers to an argument that aims to successfully dispute anotherās argument, rather than searching for truth.ā
The current stance of Niantic on game locations makes me think a public bathroom is the least of our worries to be honest
Theres now a max spot almost directly at my house because clearly a neighbour has a home business (or once did - google suggested that business is in another town so maybe ex neighbour)
@NianticLC can you decide this one as well? they are two different appeals and the conversation is taking some disturbing turns. ty for the other: Rejected report for mural in men's room - #15 by NianticLC
If youād like to shut me down by telling me what to do thatās fine but I didnāt think youād went completely to the Niantic dark side.
If we are supposed to use judgement thereās no correct or incorrect. @Leedle95 had a very valid point and explained their position well. I might not see it the same way but that didnāt diminish their point of view.
Those subjective judgements can be applied to lots of Wayfarer. If your perception is that Iām arguing for the sake of arguing thatās on you.
This thread as interesting as it is didnāt need to be 38 posts in if someone from Niantic had intervened.
I just hoop everyone can feel safe while playing and enjoy there environment the walk in while playing one of the gameās
And if it feels uncomfortable the location, you can always submit new waypoints in a location where you do feel safe.
I like to go in the forest when the sun is shinning, but wonāt go there ad night in the dark. Whit no street lights its scary
And so everyone have there feelings about the save spot and scary spots. Hoop everyone can find there favorite spot instead!
Mine favorite spots are mostly parks shopping centers and the zoo
Hi everyone! Weāll be reviewing and updating the decision shortly. Given the course of this discussion, I will be closing it to further engagement. Thank you for understanding.
