Additional Information (if any): The appeal was denied for being a 3rd party photo, but I took the photo myself, and it’s not from the internet. Permanent picnic areas, even if not bolted down, are eligible as wayspots. Picnic Areas
The only issue I can see arising is that Google maps has not updated since 2019, so the table and bench are not viewable on Google maps.
I can see that the image is indeed available on a third party platform. That’s a violation of our guidelines.
Edit: It’s quite possible that you yourself had posted the image there (guessing by the context), but there is no way for us to be able to verify that.
ty - i was able to see where this was posted as @NianticAaron mentioned. he would have to tell you if this can be overturned with evidence you took the photo. i don’t know the procedure here.
Ah damn, they saw this photo on Reddit when you asked for eligibility. Even if you have the same username there, they can not guarantee it to be you and your photo and then this happens
The problem is that the wayspot submission is anonymous to the reviewers and the review process, so it is not possible to know that a photo on another website was uploaded by the person who submitted the wayspot.
Never post the wayspot photo anywhere else. Take a second photo and post that if you have to.
Whether staff can do anything here will be for them to answer.
The original post, as I see it, has been deleted. Moreover, we cannot verify that it was indeed you even if the name matches. I know it might sound absurd, but we have seen cases where people try to impersonate others. We have also seen cases of people taking images posted on this forum and other platforms and submit them as Wayspots.
I am willing to fasttrack the review, if you choose to resubmit using a different image. You just have to respond to this message once you resubmit.
Think the easiest way to prove if the reddit post was your is checking your post and have the “view” and “view more insight” to be honest.
[Edit: Well this method still not provide full proof I guess]
@NianticAaron I can provide proof the profile the 3rd party image leads to is mine, and the original photo date and info on my camera roll. Anything else I can do to prove it as well.
(I want to be clear that I don’t know the eligibility of the submission having not seen the whole thing. But if third party photo was the only rejection reason, I hope this is overturned.)
