Please don’t pay attention to the title. Ik it’s possible that it can’t be accepted but the reasons provided are ridiculous.
How is it a third party photo when I clicked it??
And what do you mean harrasment???
Did you post the picture you took anywhere online? That might get it flagged as 3rd party (obviously incorrectly, since you took it), because Niantic then cannot tell if you were the one who posted it online or if you saw it online and used it in the submission
Hi @Sash12321
I’ve moved your topic to Nomination Support because the category Wayspot Appeals is for appealing rejected removal requests or to ask for reinstating removed wayspots.
@frealafgb asked if you posted your pictures somewhere else on the internet. That’s because while review the reviewers could use google lens or something else, find your photo and didn’t know if you steal it or not.
Hi,
If I recall correctly you did discuss the other nomination of the sports person in Reddit.
It has been picked up by Google lens even although you deleted the Reddit thread
I’m sorry but this is why it is considered 3rd party
You cant use photo that you share elsewhere. In the other hand its not about harrasment. The rejection is about abuse and it mention “OR” ……
So its rejected because 3rd party foto which considered abuse
I thought it might be something like that!
I do think this is a very problematic rule because it doesnt make sense to someone who hasn’t been hanging round the forums a lot like us!! Actually it makes no sense to me either!
The rule of not using pictures that you didn’t take yourself is very sensible, but not being able to share your own images online is not really emphasised in the in game submission process, so it often disappoints people when this happens.
Well wth is this ![]()
So now I can’t even use reddit for help
Well it’s not my fault ![]()
Is there anything I can do?
(Also why is it coming in a diff language? I used english, do you use other languages) — no need to answer this
It’s particularly unfortunate as @Sash12321 deleted the Reddit post.
So if I had that, would it make a difference??
Also, is there anyone on this platform who can help me out?
I think you’re able to post things here to ask for help, but any other website is then considered to make your picture 3rd party. So come here for help, or if you wanna use reddit, take extra pictures and only share the extras
I think the arguement is that by sharing your photo on reddit, you effectively give reddit that picture, so its no longer yours? Something like that. It makes no sense to me, I agree with you that this is really bad. But we can’t change it.
The other one that catches people out is uploading photos to google maps does the same thing- gets flagged as 3rd party
Thats why i dont share original photo. Only share screenshot when asking opinion.
I would say this should be appealable, assuming the Reddit post is the actual rejection reason and the only problem with the nomination (I didn’t see any other details about it). As said above, the abuse rejection string when used by staff is very broad and unhelpful, but it appears for multiple reasons, including third party photos.
@NianticAaron assuming the Reddit post is the problem here, maybe you can DM them if the team needs further proof that the photo is the submitter’s own?
Unless what @frealafgb said is correct, that the picture is now owned by reddit.
@Sash12321 When you want to post on reddit for assistance, take two photos (they can be similar to each other). Keep one for the submission and don’t post it anywhere. Use the second one for reddit.
Not to get into semantics, but that’s not what the Reddit user agreement says.
OK, thanks. Posting the submission photo is still likely to cause problems, but the OP might be able to get this instance revisited.
Yes, thanks for sharing. Read what reddit terms say.
Bit as Xeropus said, maybe NianticAaron might help me out
Yes, It’s literally In my photo gallery (of which i shared the proof above) I posted on reddit to ask users whether I should go with the nomination of the sports person or the lobby. I deleted it, cuz when the other nomination didn’t work, I tried the other one too.
But it got flagged. And that post is too old, I can’t even find the notifications of people replying to the post to help me out.
Maybe if you provide that the photo is indeed in your gallery and that the nickname on Reddit is indeed your account than the 3rd party photo rejection reason is invalid. But I don’t think the rejection will be overturned. Also, do be careful next time which photo’s to share where.
Good luck
Here is Aaron explaining a similar situation:
