Attributing pokestops from launch

Heya.

When I moved to my small town in the UK just over 10 years ago, I was playing Ingress and submitted a bunch of points to Google/Niantec to try and get them in.

When Pokemon Go launched I noticed they had used some of them on launch. Sadly there still werent too many so I stopped playing until this year when I picked it back up.

I just got access to Wayfarer and I was wondering if there’s any way for me to claim them? I’m using the same Google account I used for Ingress etc.

Edit: I have the portal accepted emails from 2014 if proof is needed.

Hello and welcome,

First off, Ingress is no longer connected to Wayfarer as of May 23rd, 2025. This is due to the sale of Wayfarer and some of the games to Scopely. Niantic ID is also separate from Ingress login now, as Ingress has less login options, while Niantic ID, which Wayfarer uses, has 1 additional login option for Wayfarer. More info can be found here:

In regards to your question, it sounds like you nominated them back when OPR was the only option with Ingress. Have you check your Contribution Management to see if the Wayspots you did submit are in there?

Thanks for the reply, this looks like a lot to go over so I’ll read through it tonight. Sadly there was nothing in my contributions when I looked.

Surprisingly, I’ve found the accepted portal emails from 2014, so I have proof if needed (and if its even possible to claim them).

Add them to my wayfarer account’s contributions, I guess.

Just doing some digging online, it seems that Ingress staff reviewed nominations submitted before Sept 2017, so it would seem that anything submitted before then were under a different system. Sept 2017 is when OPR launched, allowing Ingress users to review nominations instead of just staff. Wayfarer replaced OPR in 2019, but now we’re back to separate programs, with OPR (Recon) being for Ingress, and Wayfarer being for PoGo and other Scopely acquired games.

Yeah that sounds familiar, I had to submit them to Niantic and then they approved/denied.

Is this forum the best place to try and get hold of someone who could handle this unusual request or would I need to contact Niantic a different way?

And yes this is best place.
I think unfortunately you may have missed the window before the split in which to effectively consolidate your wayfarer account.
So the Wayfarer Team will check and respond

Yeah, although somewhat typical for my luck… I didn’t even know wayfarer existed until a month ago :tired_face:

I have looked into these submissions are looks like your Ingress account was not a part of the Niantic Profile. This is why it was treated as a separate account. Unfortunately, with Ingress no longer associated with Wayfarer, there is no way for us to merge these.

PS: I’ll be deleting these image as they contain PII.
