Automated process declining most things

Hi, I seem to be having a few issues with the automated process. Everything I’ve uploaded seems to get declined but I can’t work out any reasons why.

Some of the ones it’s declined include historical signs, historical architecture, permanent murals, historic phone boxes etc, but I see all of these in voting all of the time so I’m not sure how they’re getting through sometimes but not others. I’ve appealed a couple of them already but I’ll need to appeal about 8-10 of them which is going to take a while!

I just wondered if anyone else had had similar issues? Thank you!

Can you share the nominations so we can see how you could improve them as not to be subjected to the ML?

Sorry, yeah I’m on mobile so wasn’t sure how!

These two I have no idea why they’ve not been accepted as they don’t seem to not meet any criteria and I’ve included descriptions stating why they’re important etc. No spelling mistakes that I can see either. The next ones I’ve shown are weird as I’ve got one K6 Phone Box that hasn’t been thrown out immediately and one that has so I don’t know what the difference here is!

Very few have reached voting yet but it seems like everything that was going to get flagged by the AI has now. Thanks!

Hello and welcome,

As this is about your nominations I am moving it to the Nomination Support area where we can give specific help.

Thank you! Apologies, wasn’t sure where to put it! I appreciate your help

Even if the nomination is rejected by the automated process, you can still appeal to have human reviewers look at it. You get two appeals, each on a 15 day timer before you can use it again.

We don’t know exactly what the Machine Learning model that is the automated process looks for, but my guess is that it could not match these photos with points of interest that are usually eligible. If you want to resubmit, I would try with a new photo. I would back away from stone to give a little more context as to what it is, and I would get closer to the sign to make it clear it is not just a random nature scene.

The automated process usually acts around 20-24 hours after submitting and rejects at that time if it is going to. Time spent in upload later can count towards that time, if you were getting immediate rejections.

Thanks so much! I’ll just wait it out and appeal them when it comes to it I think as I’ve also used all my submissions haha  maybe in a few months time they’ll be approved!

Thanks again!

In regards to the Phone Boxes, it might seem strange but those that are still used as as Telephones are usually rejected as “not yet” unique and classed as infrastructure.

Those that have been re-purposed such as Little Libraries tend to get accepted.

Hi, I think with the first submission, it could be just the text was flagged,Tombe stone. I’d call it something else like historic stone since cemeteries are now off limits. I’ve had similar issues with the last couple of stops I’ve made & had to go back & change the wording to get them approved. Good luck!

The Tome Stone is quite notable in its own right it seems, it has a lot of mentions including Wikipedia - Queen Anne's Walk - Wikipedia

It looks like a tricky thing to photograph, I really couldn’t tell what it was from the main photo and I’m not sure that a lot can be done about that. This may be one of those that you’ll have to take to appeal - there are a LOT of supporting web pages that you can use to prove that it is significant (and correctly spelled).

For the flowerbed, this might be eligible but the focus of the photo seems to be the sign which wouldn’t be eligible. It might work better from a different angle.

Phone boxes are hit or miss. I would argue that most red telephone boxes are potentially eligible, even if in use because they are much less common than they were. I haven’t submitted that many TBH, but I would say I get better results by stressing the historical importance in the title.

I would say that most of those in the screenshots are potentially eligible and you are on the right track.
