Hiya All,
This is in my eyes an easy one to be fixed and will require a Magician to make it work I think they call him @NianticAaron but I might be wrong .
Anywho…
The inscription stone that I submitted a few weeks back that I pass on my adventures out and about is unique to the point it came from a church not far away from where it was placed on the side of a footpath as per the photo.
52.649768, -2.452855 - in game aqueduct sign location
Inscription Stone (my poi from photo) - 52.649878,-2.452802
War memorial sign/bridge (has barriers under it to prevent access) - (opposite side around 300mtrs away) - 52.650237, -2.45337
Now while my photo is accurate I wasn’t expecting it to be accepted but as I had a upgrade handy at the time and no-one had interacted with it under “in voting” I used my “upgrade” to understand how this feature worked and how quick or slow it would be (based on recent posts about them) and it went through quite quickly.
However passing there again recently I noticed it wasn’t active under Ingress and that I hadn’t received a portal key or bonus points for the submission and the reason I suspected it wouldn’t be accepted initially was because it was just shy of the 20mtrs rule behind an existing Wayspot which is currently in need of repair and the information inside is unreadable.
So what I propose is one of two things either retire the existing Aqueduct Map Poi (in front of my Wayspot) or adjust it’s location slightly to allow both to co-habitat there is a bridge (see GPS above) where there’s a plaque high up on it around 300 mtrs away on the left hand lane away from these two poi’s but it looks like they are all close together I only have accurate GPS on my poi at the moment but next time I’m there I will confirm them to what I have posted above but I was watching people walk up to my point and sitting on it just so they could interact out of sight with the map in front of it & you’ve never seen anyone so scared of being asked if they were a Pokémon Player (even though I was on Ingress and trying to avoid the other team) and watching them scarper quickly was so funny like I’d just outed them but even funnier watching them circle there finger around on there screen as if they were preparing to throw a digital pokeball as they walked away.
Anyways there you go…I did try to look for something to check the Weird Cells you all enjoy talking about but IITC didn’t have a plugin that I found on Android to show them.
Hello @phantomr1982
I can understand the frustration of that the position is slightly out and so it doesn’t show up in a specific game. so that option will be a hard no.
If the other wayspot is still there and although in need of repair then it wont get removed.
I think those are the 2 options you thought might work but unfortunately neither will.
If a wayspot is inaccurate then it can be changed but the only reason for that change is that it is inaccurate. From what you describe that doesn’t appear to be the case.
So although you have clearly tried to think of a way forward there isn’t one.
Perhaps someone can help you with getting IITC sorted as that will help you be aware that this might happen from the start? You would then avoid the frustration of realising that its position keeps it invisible. Of course if the wayspot that is in need of repair actually is removed in real life then it can be removed from the database and yours will pop out of the hat.
@elijustrying sometimes I know Aaron does work some magic in the background to make them appear in these instances.
On this occasion I gave much more detail and the GPS Co-ordinates to make it a bit easier to understand, while these poi’s are all technically in a wooded covered area but have a footpath (formerly a railway line) the two other poi’s are live apart from the one i submitted.
Regarding removals…there’s hundreds of poi’s I’ve passed in the past 10 days that I was looking around for but couldn’t find but I still interacted with them as part of a field test event, but what is more frustrating is when I report a Wayspot/POI as “no longer in the location” to then get an “emilantic” email later on saying “we reject this as it’s still there” yet I used my own eyes I saw it wasn’t & it just makes me feel like I’m wasting my time & energy even helping or playing,I’ve spoke to wayfarer chat about fixing locations before where there’s a location pin stuck in the middle of a BMX track opposite a bench (which gets funny looks from other adults and kids when I’m up there) yet the funny part is they accepted the new photo but refused to move the pin as it was accurate to them.
So this then generates a "what’s the “poi"nt in bothering” reaction to the player.
Removals can be frustrating. The reason why they set a bar quite high is because of people trying to get valid wayspots removed - Those people have made it harder and unsatisfying for the rest of the community. In short I share your frustration and understand why you get to that point.
