First cafe submission - accepted

Before seeing the discussions on this forum, I never considered cafes as eligible, because there simply weren’t any in the game apart from just one or two which I didn’t pay much attention to. When finding things to submit, I didn’t evaluate them against criteria, but simply evaluated against what was already in the system, so never thought to submit them.

I just released a (large) handful of submissions and the first one to come back was an acceptance for a cafe, about one hour after uploading it - it was accepted by the community, which means reviewers (in this area at least) are able to accept cafes.

The cafe has 4.8 on google and I linked to its google page in the supporting text.

(It happens not to be a cafe I am likely to go to, because I don’t feel like its target clientele, but that doesn’t stop it being a great place to be social for others.)

That’s so nice to hear! I quite enjoy submitting cafés and restaurants -a little challenging to get a good picture but I think fun places to highlight especially if they are known for something like a particularly good cake or to encourage people to hang out and play board games

I’ve got a handful of restaurants in the queue as well, all with excellent reviews on google and all submitted on the same basis as a great place to spend time being social with people. None of them come with anything like a particularly good cake or a place for games. I’m waiting to see how those fare.

(I’m surprised by how quickly these come back after being uploaded (unlike what I used to do, these come with full descriptions already entered, instead of placeholders, because they are also being submitted in Ingress where placeholders are effectively impossible). I know the one day’s grace period has been used up already, but didn’t realise ML checked them instantly.)

Thanks for this.
It’s good to hear that interactions here have helped shape your approach in review and now submitting too. That’s a win win as far as I can see.

A whole new category to submit.

That’s certainly true for some of them. Cafes don’t look at their best when they are closed, but for the popular ones (which are the only ones I am submitting) that’s just about the only time that photos can be taken. Even if it’s possible to get a photo just of the name or logo without people you in, you have to stand there in-front of people looking a little dodgy

That’s brilliant  yes I have also noticed some really fast decisions recently which is lovely
