This is a reminder now that the challenge has ended to make sure you reset your location if needed.
Best not to hang around with this as it’s easy to forget, and then wonder why you are getting reviews from St Kilda.
Home location in particular is important as this was a very rare opportunity to change it. So think very carefully where you might want it to be set to.
Bonus locations have been changeable several times a year, but again do consider where you want to have reviews from……there were some really interesting places that I visited during the challenge and there are places with not that many reviewers, so think about what you might want to see over the next few months.
If people would like to add requests to this topic of places to set as a bonus location please do give the name of the place and perhaps coordinates.
Just had someone ask if there was a backlog anywhere, and made sure to remind them of how home and bonus locations work. I never changed my home location, but I did reset my bonus location yesterday after the challenge ended.
Yes, the 48 hours ends on April 24th at 5:00pm PDT, which is 00:00 UTC on April 25th.
Considering we all have access to this wonderful thing called the internet, why are we stuck with a bonus location at all? I can just as easily search a spot online with Google search as go to most of the places I was given during the challenge.
I read that one issue would be the different languages submitted but then translate is a default option on most browsers these days.
Finally opening up reviewers to the world would:
a) let us explore the interesting spots around all over the earth, and;
b) people who happen to live in an area with few spots to review can help out in those areas where more reviewers would be useful.
These limited location selections per year decision by Niantic seem somewhat arbitary.
The challenge has opened my eyes to how much I have enjoyed reviewing around the world without the restrictions on how often we can change the Bonus Location. Prior to the event, I understood and accepted the reasons for the restriction. I can’t remember the reason fo having both the home and bonus location, but it does make sense that you should be able to review your home location and a location which may need extra reviewers. The restriction had its purpose and also gave a purpose for various challenges. Now with the split, I don’t know what future challenges hold, but I would love to be able to review globally with fewer restrictions.
