When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:
Wayspot Title: Poke lid:ピカチュウ・ビクティニ・ゴンベ(臨港パーク)
Location (lat/lon): (35.458705,139.638316)
City: Yokohama
Country: Japan
Additional Information (if any): This wayspot has been removed, but the physical object still exists. It is not a duplicate of any other wayspot in the Niantic Wayfarer system.
Streetview there is from 2011, so that isn’t helping since there is nothing from 2011 that could be a wayspot. Do you have up-to-date images showing that this still exists? Also, what is it?
In addition there is a tourist attraction pin on Google maps titled “Kanagawa Poke Lid”, and the website of the Pokemon Company has highlighted the location of the POI : Kanagawa | Poké Lids | Pokémon Local Acts
edit: in terms of the up to date information, the nomination was made in last week. Niantic staff should be able to see the support photo in the my list of nominations.
Hi, @1giraffetoman! Due to insufficient evidence, we’re unable to restore the Wayspot in question. If you have additional evidence to share, like geotagged images or photosphere, please submit a new appeal with additional information, and we’ll take another look.
The most up to date photo I could get is the nomination itself made in 25 May 2026. In addition its Google map tag has some reviews with the POI image. Google Maps
The Pokemon Go map from its official website has revealed the same POi in that location : Map - Pokémon GO
However, please note that the PokéLid PokéStop in-game is NOT a Wayfarer Wayspot. It is an imported stop for a Pokémon GO event, which could be the reason why it was removed as a duplicate. Therefore, this removal is incorrect, because no existing Wayspot actually represents the object, duplicating it against a non-Wayspot PokéStop does not meet the removal criteria. Furthermore, removing the Wayspot means players of Pikmin Bloom, can no longer see the POI.
I would like to share a serious concern regarding what appears to be a coordinated effort to maliciously remove valid Wayspots—specifically Poké Lids—by abusing both Google Maps and the Wayfarer removal system.
I suspect that bad actors are using the following method to intentionally destroy database integrity across both platforms:
Abusing Google Maps: They first suggest an edit on Google Maps to mark a valid Poké Lid as “Permanently Closed” or “Does Not Exist.”
Exploiting the Status for Removal: Once Google Maps incorrectly reflects this status, they submit a removal request via Wayfarer or in-game reporting.
Misleading Support: When Wayfarer Support checks the location, the “Permanently Closed” marker on Google Maps acts as false evidence, leading them to mistakenly believe it has been removed and approve the deletion, even though the physical object is still securely in place.
Furthermore, I visited the site five months ago on January 17th of this year and confirmed that it is still there. When the deletion was approved, did you actually receive any photographic evidence showing that the Poké Lid had been removed?
In fact, I have repeatedly seen instances across various locations where Poké Lids on Google Maps are being changed to “Permanently Closed” status, even though they have not been removed at all.
Poké Lids are perfect examples of great Wayspots, but because they are on the ground, they are often invisible on satellite imagery and older Street View. These bad actors are weaponizing this visibility gap alongside Google Maps manipulation to trick the system.
This is not just a Wayfarer issue; it is a malicious prank aimed at vandalizing both Google Maps and Niantic’s map database. I highly recommend that Niantic Support exercises extra caution when reviewing removal requests for Poké Lids, and not rely solely on Google Maps status without verifying recent, local context.
Hi all, as @NianticLC suggested, I’ve submitted another appeal with more details. I’ve also made the new appeal in Japanese just because it maybe easier for the Japanese staff to understand the context of the nomination.
There is a very easy way to prove its current existence. The Pokémon Japan Championships 2026 (PJCS 2026) is being held in Yokohama starting today, and many people are currently visiting that specific Poké Lid and posting about it on X (formerly Twitter). https://x.com/search?q=ポケふた%20ビクティニ
