Additional Information (if any):

This Wayspot was originally imported into Ingress from the Historical Marker Database (HMDB). The subject of the import was an information board titled “Lost Rockville - 1801 to 1850: Montgomery County Jail,” which detailed a historic jail demolished in 1931.

During the import process, the primary photo attached to the Wayspot was pulled from a wide-angle image showing the Council Office Building, rather than a close-up of the marker itself:

HMDB Image imported as the POI photo:
Wide view showing the council building with the marker location circled in red.

HMDB Marker Detail:
Close-up of the actual “Montgomery County Jail” historical marker imported into the system.

Google Street View timeline demonstrates that the marker is no longer at this location:

July 2017 Street View:
The original historical marker post is visible on the lawn.

October 2019 Street View:
The original sign was replaced with a different style frame/sign.

September 2022 Street View:
The marker, frame, and post have been removed.

Because the historic building was demolished in 1931 and the physical informational marker has been permanently removed, this Wayspot no longer exists and should be retired.

Thanks for the appeal, @FamousPigeon! We gave this a second look and have already retired the Wayspot in question.
