Recently there was a post here on the forums of a NIA approved wayspot being removed and the nominator receiving a warning. Received a warning this morning
@NianticAaron replied to this post by saying “Hey, Thanks for flagging this. The nomination in question is very close to the driveway that emergency vehicles use. This could lead to an unfortunate situation in case of an emergency and as a result, we find it ineligible.”
Now I want to be clear, I don’t agree with this decision. However, I want the team to be consistent. With that in mind please consider the following 3. In keeping with the previous information they should be removed. But the more reasonable thing to do would be to leave them in the system and also restore the previously wayspot. It is very clear the distinction between the fire station itself and the banquet hall, art pieces, etc near them and people know how to behave in these places.

Here’s a look at the one removed with the approx location circled and the driveway/exit path squared

Now here are the three in question circled, with the driveway squared

This is the same exact situation. So pick a side and be consistent about it Niantic.

    what used to be there:

  • Additional Information: I was here last week but neglected to take a photo. Streetview is 3 years old but you can see on sat view that this was here before and is now gone. If this is insufficient i’m sure i can get a photo of the location in the near future.

Note that this was reported during the time when report responses were not generating emails. I’m not going to use another report because of a niantic bug. I think given the fact that the wayspot still exists and that niantic’s inconsistency leads to many blatantly ineligible wayspots such as fire stations being left in the system it’s safe to assume my report was rejected.

  • Additional Information: it’s a fire station.

I think if would help if your photos were geotaged

I think there is no need to comment this on every single appeal.

I sorry but no every one read others posts on the forum
Plus I only wrote on posts that no one had replied to yet

I only care about 1 reply and that’s from someone with “niantic” in their name.

I also have a long history of accurate report appeals so I tend not to go the extra step of geotagged photos. It isn’t necessary in most cases and my claims can be verified in other ways beyond the photo (which the initial report investigation can and should be doing already but that’s another story).

And in this case, I only took a single photo for this post anyway.

@NianticAtlas can you check up on this one please? i think it was forgotten about.

Hi @tehstone! Currently, we don’t have any updates to share. We’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as we have more information available.

here’s a photo I took of the location where the Giant Glasses used to be

two weeks now… still nothin?

Thank you for your patience @tehstone

After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire 8 Wayspots in question. However, we took another look at the rest of the Wayspots in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.

I’ll be requesting reinstatement of the Fire Banquet Hall then as the decision here makes niantic’s stance very clear.

surely this was sufficient evidence for this one? @NianticAtlas
or do you require photos from multiple angles?

the identical duplicate also remains live

frankly I think your team did a really poor job with this set of appeals

I wonder why you reported wayspots for removal as “private property” when you just stated elsewhere “easement between sidewalk and road is fine”?
