  • Wayspot Title: Grow Native Plants Protected Area Sign

  • Location: 43.551016,-70.365485

  • City: Scarborough, ME USA

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email:

  • Additional Information: There is no public land in between these houses, it’s all private residential. i noticed this when reviewing something else in this same small area with a photo of a US National Forest Trail sign so clearly someone who lives here has made multiple attempts to fake wayspots in their back yard.

here’s what i reviewed at this location:

similar oversaturated photo and 100% fake

  • Additional Information: this is private residential and likely faked. the streetview is kind of old but the background doesn’t match with what is visible on satellite. additionally i reviewed a nomination with the exact same photo a quarter mile from this location and that one was definitely faked so it seems likely this one is also.
    here’s streetview:

sat view still shows all that tree cover:

there’s just no way the location shown in the wayspot photo is here. and it’s prp anyway.
Here’s my review a short distance away with the exact same photo:

and actually in that review the supporting photo even includes an address “8831” but none of the 4 nearby addresses with that house number that i checked in the local area matched this house https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ON63tX-4ejAmlpRU19plBPbpFQu231i51ucTEdoRmNHauxVHnYUhV6GmPSynpXcF8gwx3_JOJN2D8_nj-t8ENuNTjdUYS3O5LiFMtZG-0g=s0

Each of the following is located in the middle of a road, i’m pretty sure i reported a number of these and they were removed but then already got renominated? idk but i don’t really want to report them all again. please retire all.

  • Wayspot Title: Baseball Field at Smedley Park

  • Location: 39.913377,-75.358459

  • City: Springfield, PA USA

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email:
    image

  • Additional Information: there hasn’t been a baseball field here for years
here’s sat view from 2002, you can see the 5 dirt patches at each base + pitcher’s mound

It becomes less and less apparent as the years go on, here’s the same view in 2016

And again in 2024, at this point the pinned location is completely wooded and the creek has rerouted nearly to it’s location. there are some kind of garden planters in the field but no baseball field.

and as a bonus you can retire the one right next to it that’s been approved since i made this report:
    “Millenia Fountains” 28.488001,-81.434884
and a few more for good measure:

Thanks for the appeal @tehstone After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire 15 Wayspots in question. We took another look at the Wayspots “Canadian Flag at Bluebird”, “Light Globe” in question and decided that they do not meet our criteria for removal at this time.

Also, please wait until you receive the rejection email to appeal other candidates in question.
