K-12 school keeps getting created under false pretense

My best g

I might agree, however, its the same persone who is nominating the same exact portals…over and over.

There is a difference between next to and one that encompasses the whole area in question

My understanding is that K-12 schools (including preschools) shouldn’t be Wayspots, nor should Wayspots be on the property of schools/facilities dedicated primarily to minors. Is the building a church? Yes. Is it a school? Also yes. A church generally would be a great Wayspot, but since it shares a building with a preschool, which is ineligible, wouldn’t that negate its eligibility?

This is fairly clear cut. The only reason it has an entrance on 2 streets is because the property is the corner plot on the block. Thats no different than any corner property.

Also almost all christian schools have a church or chapel of some kind connected to the school so the students can practice their faith, yes theyre generally also open to the students’ families and the community, but it is still used by the students and faculty during regular school hours.

I have seen some situations where a church can be connected to a school or daycare and still be eligible
such as when theyre both lcoated on a strip mall where theres clear divisions between the businesses such as in the pic i provided (assuming i attached it right lol)

In the pic u can see the church circled on the far right and the daycare circled on the far left. but in the nomination currently being discussed its in the same building on the same property plot without any type of divisions either inside or outside separating the two and where the children and staff can move between the 2 on the inside.

One last example that comes to mind that is similar is a previously debated topic on the old forum where a business that would have normally been eligible was deemed ineligible by niantic due to the business owners living on the second floor of the building. they shared the same property and building despite the owners place of residence being seperate from the business on a different floor without public access. and this church/school is on the same floor in the same building on the same plot of property, without any type of division either inside or outside where the students use both sides of the building for their teaching and faith. this isnt eligible and it would take a big stretch to try to state otherwise.

I am interested to see what the outcome of this will be, I hope you will keep us updated. I think this Wayspot should be removed, but it’s definitely not a clear cut case. I’ve had a similar issue in my area, some kids keep nominating a monument in the middle of the school yard and I keep tagging it for removal. It doesn’t seem like Niantic has found a proper way to deal with this problem.

For a church with a school… I think if you can stand on the wayspot without standing in the school part - it’s probably OK. So, the belfry is probably fine, but the playground is definitely not.

But did someone say it’s not a church (with Sunday services) anymore - just a school?
Does Google maps still say it’s a church? Reviewers see Google maps. Do you need to submit a Google edit so it’s clearer?

It is up to the Wayfarer Team to decide.
@Panthers07 I have no recollection of the instance you cite of a business downstairs with accommodation upstairs. Have you some evidence?
It is perfectly ok to have a business such as a pub or restaurant on the ground floor and living accommodation in the flats above. It is a very common arrangement in Europe. And your assertion that all Christian schools have a church attached might apply in the USA it certainly doesn’t in the UK. In this particular case the link provided shows that this school is not related to the church. There are 4 locations that this business uses. This is simply a suitable location.
It is not a church -school.
The website does not mention any strong links to a particular faith and the other 3 sites are not associated with church buildings. None of the pictures show children in a church.

It was literally years ago i tried to find it but couldnt. but if i remember right the nomination was in new york where its also common for apartments to be above bars and restaurants and that was the argument used by OP to justify the waypoint being valid. The waypoint was removed for PRP and when OP tried to get it reinstated OP was was rejected because the owners living above their business were not in an apartment complex or flats where several people live by paying rent, it was just their permanent home above their business, making the property and their business private residential property.

which is why i said that situation was similar to this case. nothing on private residential property is valid, nothing on school property is valid. Yes most churches attached to schools and are on the same property plot in the US are related and this waypoint is in the US, but to be fair maybe thats not the case here cuz like you said thats not the case everywhere.

But the school and church are still on the same plot of land. even when looking up property boundaries they share the same plot which would make the church ineligible. Another thing to keep in mind is everytime the church was reported as K-12 niantic removed it. every time, which i would think speaks for niantics opinion on the matter but maybe not im not niantic lol. As to why it keeps getting added back who knows. maybe its reviewers who see the church on google maps and immediately accept it. maybe its emily, ive had my church nominations auto accepted by, “the team” or maybe its reviewers who agree that a church one one side of a building is fair game despite being attached to a school and sharing the same property.

Theres an obelisk near the edge of what i assumed was school property that i never added due to it being on school property. the first image is its location in regards to the school circled in yellow, the second image is a crude google maps picture of it.

if you and niantic say im wrong in what dictates school property then let me know cuz that church is so close to the school its on the same property plot and building, and if thats eligible then this obelisk that was made during the restoration of the school in the pic attched to honor the donations by the community which is located slightly past the parking lot but still technically on school property should be eligible.

I actually remember it opposite Panther’s claim that the business was eligible despite the flat above it.

Personally, if the Church has it’s own entrance, and people come in on sunday’s then yes it’s eligible, despite the attached school, so long as it’s on the church’s property

One thing I want to side-step is the accusations that submitters are committing abuse or the removers, is simply silly. We don’t have a clear cut Niantic clarification for this, so difference of opinion is bound to exist. Submitters think its eligible, submit it, and reviewers, emily or even Niantic agrees. Some remover submits a removal, gets a different Niantic who feel different and remove.

Saying it’s abuse to resubmit it, is just as silly as saying it’s abuse to come here and say it should be removed, when clearly its been readded.

This place is a church and a daycare , The church is still active and has pancake breakfasts from time to time anyone is welcome to come. The daycare is for young children ages 6 weeks -12 yrs, and no electronics are allowed for them. The signs for the church are on the church grounds anyone has access to them the daycare is limited to the playground that is fenced in and the 4 rooms in the basement only. The stop and gym was there for many years and when it was gone I thought that was strange I know I have personally resubmitted the stops at one point in time they do not break any of the rules that I read before submitting. With in a couple days they were taken down. Now I find this post. I am a parent and I have never seen anyone strange hanging around this area. Reading all of these comments on here is making me think there is more of a personal issue going on not about the rules. I personally play Pokemon go since it came out, have only dabbled here in there on ingress

These types of disagreements do seem to be mostly related to Ingress. But at least it can help clarify the rules.
