I will say this: it is a little disheartening that we are being told to provide more info, when many won’t even use the comments box. We’re being told to put in more work, but there are many Wayfarers that put in the bare minimum and still get Wayspots added, even if on appeal.
I’ve had mixed results with the comments box, as a look at Google Maps and a web search would tell you, “Oh, yes, that does need to be removed,” but that doesn’t seem to be the case for every comment left. Who knows what work is actually done?
I’m at my bonus location right now, close to Canada, and they still love to approve memorial benches…Ugh…
I’m sure @NianticAaron has previously stated that appeals are always fully read when they are submitted.
Looking at the many appeals that are rejected from public toilets to Men’s Warehouse the only logical conclusion from the above statement is Niantic appeal team don’t know what they are doing.
If I phone up Tesco, intended, and they say we have looked at your complaint and even though it aligns with every policy we have, we disagree…cya…
But Hey explorers… We love you… Cutting edge… Leveraging… Sure
Could you post a photo to google drive or a similar service, make it viewable only if the person has a link, and then add the link in the text box? It seems like this is what they’re doing with splats.
Well, let me add more thought. The seeming advantage a splat has is that its tied to a map so im guessing is a location component to it for Niantic to “trust” it. I prefer the simple photo method, but i guess someone could submit a fake or doctored photo as “proof” to support their bogus claim.
I despise designing systems that make it more difficult for honest people because there are abusers out there.
i am sure some people could, but i don’t think i can. i wanted to be able to attach a photo that would arrive with location intact to whomever reviews it. i can barely use my phone to make a phone call, so i am pretty sure i can’t create and attach a link for the comment box.
it was so nice when help chat actually handled stuff and I could just send them the photo from my computer.
Yes, we are working with the Ingress team to have them level up the takedown option.
Also the opposite will be true, scans can get your wayspot approved now! Although currently the scans submitted from within Pokemon Go and Ingress are not used for that purpose.
Just making sure, but how? Is that something to be included in Appeals for Niantic only or is there (or will there be), for example, a way to see nearby splats via a map during reviewing just like it does for duplicates?
I was thinking that you do a Splat in Scaniverse of what you’re submitting as a Wayspot.
Then you do the submission as usual and then add the splat link in your supporting information, same as how many would add in a photosphere link or a link to the trail of the trailmarker you’re submitting.
Okay there has to be something there to scan, so if there is nothing there this won’t help? (I realized that previous comment didn’t come out like I meant it as soon as I hit enter.)
