Multiple Wayfarer Account Submissions

Virginia is a bit of a weird one considering the independent cities that essentially are counties. Sometimes it can be easy to sneak across the border into a large county for a submission, but with these comparatively tiny cities, you have to go to a very specific place. I think Falls Church is the smallest county equivalent in the US being only something like 2 sq miles.

Wow California only has 58 counties!!!.. however i have more land to cover!

I’m currently in Arlington. Looks like you haven’t made one here yet… or in Alexandria.

This conversation about “creating gyms” is always interesting to me.

At what point do you “take credit” for creating the gym?

  • When you added all the wayspots necessary to flip the gym?
  • When you added the last wayspot necessary to flip the gym?
  • When you added the majority of the wayspots necessary to get a gym?

What about if yours wasn’t the last one to flip the gym but you did all the others?

Or are you only counting the 1st gym, where it’s easier to assess all that? It gets much more murky with 2nd and 3rd gyms.

Ive always had this gripe with Trollfarer because i disagree with his counting method… but alas its his to enjoy however he counts.

Essentially he can add the 2nd in a cell and flip, add both, or add the 1st and someone else the 2nd… a lot murkier with 6 and 20 and youve stated but as I interpret, they still count as he still “helped create a gym”.

We also have the issue with sponsored gyms here. And hidden stops and gyms that dont appear on iitc. So if youre not there to actually see a gym materialize… did you really create a gym?

Not just yet - it’s frustrating dealing with NOVA traffic to get there lol

So in general, I only count one as a gym added if I specifically add the 2nd, 6th, or 20th stop in a cell AND it creates a gym after. I typically check this through Campfire. There have been a few times that an added wayspot just doesn’t appear on the map for an unknown reason and when that happens I don’t count them.

There have also been times where I have the submission pending that will add a gym but someone else’s is approved in the cell before mine is. I don’t count this as me having added the gym.

lol, fair enough. It’s the reverse for me. I take primarily take public transportation around here. So it’s easy for me to get around NOVA. But longer distances is the problem.

Wow I am strict.
I only consider it if I have done all the submissions between levels so 2, 4 or 14.
But then again I’m not ticking the cells off either :joy:
I’m more interested in giving the parks ex/elite raids

That is strict. I’d estimate about 90% of the gyms I count would be adding the 2nd submission to the cell, most where that 1st wayspot was just originally in the game. Church playgrounds and church pavilions have to be my #1 and #2 most submitted items.

I had prepared a longlist of potential nominations way in advance of reaching the point where I could submit nominations. The priority were wayspots which I believed would lead to the formation of a new gym. This strategy has increased the number of gyms in the town and its immediate outskirts from 55 to 65.

I kind of went overboard doing the same thing a while back. I have a Google Map with potential/confirmed stuff for nominations, as well as the stuff that’s actually been accepted.

@elijustrying I’m curious to how many gyms you have added with that criteria

Photo of my cover. Red means i simply added a wayspot in that municipality. +1 in northern Norway.

The strict one?
I don’t know as I haven’t been counting, I don’t use any add-ons so don’t keep track. I don’t do loads of submissions.

I have a quiet inner celebration, and move on.

A big problem is that Wayfarer doesn’t give a count of Wayspots approved. Or any kind of count of any kind of submission.

Sure, there are plug-ins to give you your stats, but native Wayfarer should have the basics. And number of wayspots/edits/photos WITH their state (In Queue, In Voting, Approved, etc) is BASIC.

Niantic should want to feed the person who likes the feeling of accomplishment they get from creating/improving. Not encourage them to enter the world of Wayfarer plug-ins - about something that would be so easy to add to the native code.
