I submit a lot of nominations on other accounts when we’re driving around together and they hand me their phone as 1 per day isn’t enough and it’s something I genuinely enjoy doing. Curious as to other’s thoughts on counting these as wayspots I’ve submitted for a more official number. Does anyone submit nominations on more than one account?
Considering account sharing is against TOS, no none of those submissions should count in your tally.
Yes, I would not be submitting using others accounts, as it is against the terms of service and player guidelines. This could be seen as abuse for both you and the others’ involved accounts, and it could lead to a warning, or worse, a ban. This is detailed in the Wayfarer abuse policy, which can be found here:
I personally have said no to other users who ask to use my account for things that are considered abusive, such as logging into a device quite a long distance away from me to battle in a gym in PoGo, or told them that I won’t use their accounts for these reasons, as I don’t want to lose my accounts, and I don’t think they want to lose theirs.
Really, the best thing to do is to encourage others to submit if they are eligible to, get them more involved. Who knows, they may like it just as much as you do!
I don’t think I would consider handing your phone off to someone to be account sharing - it’s likely more analogous to something like giving your phone to someone at a raid who’s better at throwing excellent throws or showing someone on their phone how to check in on Campfire at a community event.
You can get 40 nominations from your PokemonGO account, and another 40 from your Ingress account, if they’re both high enough level to contribute. Both will go to your one Wayfarer account.
In your analogy, does the account owner or the person throwing balls get the Raid rewards & boss?
Have you picked up Ingress? If nominations are something you genuinely enjoy doing, I strongly encourage it. It’s easy to level up if you travel. If you use the same email, the contributions are linked to your Wayfarer page. Adding Ingress gets you an additional 40 nominations available with the same daily accrual. It also gives you a 25km submission range and you can collect “Portal Keys” to some of your favorite Portals.
Early on, I helped a friend nominate a few Wayspots when I was still limited by the 14 biweekly. I’m still a little salty that some of my favorite Wayspots have her account name on it instead of mine. On the other hand, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed helping friends just starting out in Wayfarer by sharing discoveries that have a special meaning to us.
If you’re counting those stats as your own, then no its not the same thing. You dont brag about all the hundos you caught… for your friends. Theres a process to making nominations that involves many steps, thinking and responsibility, nothing comparable to throwing an excellent curve for someone.
Um… there are plenty of people who brag about how often they have to catch raid bosses for others. But, no, the stats don’t officially belong to them, its all ancedotal.
@havoc21 One of my fellow ambos got a good laugh out of your comment because i privately said the same thing to them. I don’t see anything wrong with helping someone catch a raid boss while they are present. I don’t see anything wrong with helping a fellow player submit wayspots. But you have to be very careful about using that logic to justify actually breaking TOS.
At the end of a cold Community Day, we were all gathered at a pizza place. A member of our community was nice and toasty inside (and had been enjoying some adult beverages). She just was not in the mood to learn how to do Wayfarer. But she really wanted this pizza place to be a Wayspot. So she handed her phone to me and her teen daughter. I went out and showed the daughter how to do it all.
Did they suddenly become Wayfinders? Nope. They were happy when that place finally went live. But they mostly still relied on me to get around to submit stuff. The mom did message me when new subs i made went live that she found really useful. She is always very thankful for the work i do in our community.
Wayfarer just isn’t for everyone.
Going back to the original post, count how? For what purposes do you need
Just general curiosity to see how others might factor things in. Everyone has their own personal stats or numbers that mean something to them in particular: agreements, pokestops spun, catches, etc. I’ve just personally never seen much discussion on accepted submissions.
Ingress keeps track of that for me, outside of a few dozen I’ve done through the PoGO app or ones that didn’t sync, as the “Portals Discovered” stat.
Oh, I’ve admittedly only ever seen leaderboards relating to agreements there as opposed to number of submissions. Is that not the case?
no official leaderboard for accepted nominations. we just brag in the celebrations channel. totally get wanting to track it. was just wondering if i were missing something.
@Trollfarer also tracks how many gyms he has caused to be created =)
Same - admittedly that’s a stat I grabbed from someone in town some time back, but just recently hit 1K new gyms added assuming my “extended submissions” are included lol
1K gyms created? Thats awesome.
That is also what i focus on, i travel around to small norwegian towns and villages and suburbs trying to make gyms for people to use.
Since nominations are capped, you could try focusing on trying to make a wayspot/pokestop/gym in unique places. Im trying to submit a nomination in every municipality in Norway, and i am halfway done already
It sounds like we have pretty similar goals. I grew up in a rural area, so I’ve spent a lot of time submitting gyms (mostly churches) in those places. I’ll usually map out a travel route beforehand to try and optimize the day. I’m also working on a goal in my home state of Virginia to create a gym/submit a wayspot in every county.
Is this your map? I don’t see a legend for the colors…
Yeah, just one I’ve created. Red = gym submitted and approved Blue = non-gym wayspot submitted and approved
