Need 2nd opinion on a couple of possible nominations

Soooo… there is a Community Centre near where I live that is a Wayspot. On the premises there is a model railway track and designated pick up point. Also on site is a communal BBQ with appropriate seating.

Would these 2 be acceptable nominations? If so, it may be worth a trip to submit, but don’t really know for sure.

I’ve certainly seen those things accepted as wayspots, the model railway sounds like a strong contender, communal BBQs do often get accepted but are not guaranteed.

The next time I am in that area, I’ll try and submit both of them and see what the outcome will be.

Just to second tgat the BBQ spot should be good as a social space.
The tricky part of the model railway which I presume is indoors will be demonstrating it is permanent and where it is located. Look if there is a plaque or something.

The model railway is outdoors with a permanent track and pick up point. It host seasonal events for the public and meets up weekly (can’t remember off hand if it’s more than once a week) in the Community Centre.

Ah so a miniature railway rather than a model one.
Does the pickup / start have a sign?

They call themselves a model railway club, so I am not going to claim much knowledge in the subject. They have a pickup point, but not 100% sure on the sign as it has been a while since I been around that part of the Centre.

If it’s a club meeting place, and even better if they have a sign for it, you can nominate that. It definitely counts as a gathering place for specific activities that are interesting and unique. I got an amateur ham radio club in years ago. Try to find a website for it that will have info that can help you inform people about the club and what they do in your description, and add that link to your supplemental info too. You might also wander around in the community center and see if they have any named rooms with plaques. You can look up the people the rooms are named for because they are probably notable people and/or philanthropists that have done good things for the community. It’s always worthwhile to look those names up and see what you find out about them. For example, one of our community centers has a Martin Luther King Jr. Theater in it. I doubt I’d have known that if I hadn’t gone exploring around in there one day.
