Clicking that button to sign in is certainly a requirement, but if you are suggesting there’s some requirement beyond doing that and then picking an appropriate login method, it’s unclear.
Oh my bad - it’s just an extra pointless screen. I assumed it meant something, which lead me to incorrectly read it as Niantic ID. Gheez.
Yes, there may be more clicks to login, but the good thing about this change is now Apple ID users can log into Wayfarer with that login, as well as their games. Many iOS users have been requesting this for a long time.
There had been issues in the past if logged in with Apple ID in-game where emails for Wayfarer submissions weren’t be sent, as Wayfarer only allowed Facebook and/or Google login. This finally integrates Apple ID into Wayfarer, allowing iOS users to use Apple ID in-game AND still get their Wayfarer emails.

Yeah its several additional pointless screens to do the exact same thing for me which is to log in with google…
The extra fun thing is that if you click the 2nd google button too fast, jt goes back to the start so you get a nice never ending loop
Aahhhh, the good old “make it worse for android users to help apple users” rather than making it work nicely for everyone
I see it as making it fair for all users. I’m an Android user, but many iOS users have been asking for Apple ID to be added. Also, by using Niantic ID, it helps streamline everything. I bet the games will be going to this in the future.

Fair for all users could also have been 1 click for all users rather than nothing for apple or 4/8 for everyone
It’s also new for Wayfarer, so it may change in the future to less clicks. Best to be patience with it.

Does anyone else just not log in now because its so tedious to do all the clicking and waiting?
I used to log in a few times a day, check on my nominations, and do a few reviews. But I find myself doing that a lot less now that the user experience to get logged in is so much worse than it used to be.
I have always just stayed logged in, so it isn’t affecting me XD

It keeps logging me out, more than it used to and it’s a pain. More clicks. So yes if it was going to be just a 5 min visit I sometimes es can’t be bothered.

I dont log out, but it logs you out very quickly. Almost every time I go back to that tab, I have to log in again (chrome, mobile)

Yep! Has to be for something more than a quick check or a couple of reviews to make me do it

Sounds like it is much better on laptop yeah! If I wish to swap from wayfarer to the forum and back, it logs me out even though Im just swapping tabs

Reading on… it seems like the issue is the log outs… not necessarily the clicking and waiting before the clicking and waiting.
Yep it logs out so you have to repeatedly login.
