Nominations representing the (English) alphabet

OK, here’s a fun little cooperative project. Let’s post images of Wayspots we’ve had approved that are letters in English alphabetical order. I would love to also see letters from other languages - maybe we would need another topic for that.

Since this is an international forum, I will list the letters in alphabetical order. (I was shocked when I studied Russian to find out that native Russian speakers don’t necessarily know alphabetical order for their language.)

Rules:

  1. The image should be of a letter (I didn’t realize I would have to explicitly write this rule) or something that very obviously resembles a letter.
  2. Only post 1 letter at a time. One photo of that letter.
  3. Wait for someone else to post the following letter before posting again (unless we get stuck).
  4. You can post photo submissions, but it’s probably more fun if you did the whole submission.
  5. Only post the image - no need for a screen capture with the title and location.

Once we get to the end, we can post alternates or duplicates of letters that someone else has already posted. (This could go on continuously.)

Haha yes, I had shared a recent nomination titled “B is for Battery” (some kind of baseball social space) and I was like “wouldn’t it be fun to do the whole alphabet…” :grin:

Hmm, I’m planning a nomination trip this weekend - might need to look for some nice middle-of-the-alphabet nominations! It might be fruitless (I tend to explore more rural pathways than urban art) but I appreciate the challenge. Nice thread!

Healthy Habits Route J Marker

Trail marker on the Healthy Habits Route J, which takes walkers along the Forth and Clyde Canal from Bishoppbriggs to Lambhill, passing round the Possil Marsh. Healthy Habits is an initiative introduces by the East Dunbartonshire Council to get people out

(I know it’s a boring trail marker, but its the best I could come up with letter wise)

This is one of the surviving boundary markers from when The Forest of Knaresborough existed as a royal hunting ground. The boundary stones were placed circa 1767, but a lot of them have become lost to time as the area has become more urbanised.

Sorry, I’m pulling rank as a mod. The focus of the photo needs to be the letter. The letter should not just be randomly found in somewhere in the photo.

The old Lincoln Highway, the last part of it left in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. It was the first road across the US, from New York City to San Francisco. Scanner link here.

After some chatter about it on discord, I’ve put it back. On to M!

Full disclosure - I haven’t been to Nebraska, I found this by looking for “L” images and then tracked the historical fact down and checked Intel portals until I found something.

A few years back our town’s Business Improvement District commissioned several pieces of art for the town centre. Among those were 9 mosaics spelling out the name of the town. Each of the mosaics represents a theme that the town is known for and has imagery reflecting this.

This is the O mosaic. It represents the town’s connection to cycling, as we’ve previously been host to both the Tour de Yorkshire and the Tour de France.
