Not A Trail Marker - does not meet our criteria for removal

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Downfield Way to Ridgeway Footpath Woodland Trail #23
  • Location (lat/lon): 50.38643413079689, -4.041742087123669
  • City: Plymouth
  • Country: England

Whilst reviewing a nomination, it was an ID sticker for a street lamp that included a ID Number and a message giving a telephone number to call to report it if it was not working.

The submitter was calling it a “Woodland Trail #nn” using the ID Number as a Trail Number.

It doesn’t make sense as a Trail Marker as why would the Trail not be working and need you to call to report it.

I rejected that one but also noticed another that had already got through so I took the details (those above) and reported it.

Received reply stating “We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.“

How can a wayspot that is not what it states to be not meet removal criteria?

Unfortunately, I did not take a screen grab to show you.

This is not anywhere near my “play location” so it doesn’t affect me but feel it is a question that needs an official answer.

Should we continue to report waypoints that are not what they claim to be if no action is going to be taken?

We have retired this Wayspot. You should see the changes reflected soon.
