Please provide: > Hi everyone,
I am quite confused by a recent rejection and would love to get your feedback. My nomination of an official hiking trail marker was rejected by the community with the reason “Temporary Structure”.
This makes absolutely no sense to me. It is a permanent, officially installed trail marker for an established hiking route (Taunusklub / Lahn-Camino) that is maintained by local trail associations. There are thousands of identical trail markers across the country that are perfectly valid Wayspots.
It is firmly mounted and definitely not temporary. Have any of you experienced this specific rejection reason for official trail signs lately? Should I just resubmit with a different angle showing the mounting more clearly, or is this worth an appeal?
Thanks for your help!
Beschreibung
- A screenshot of your nomination, including rejection reasons if it has already been rejected
- Include the title, description, both photos, and supplemental information
- Copy and paste the title, description and supplemental so others can translate them
- If you feel comfortable please share the location, as it is helpful (i.e. hidden duplicates), but you can mask it if you wish.
Yes it’s quite usual for those to be rejected by reviewers as temporary. I just appeal them.
Did you provide evidence that the trail passes through this location and that this is a decision point?
With the lack of streetview to assist, it helps to show the markers are official ones, as it is possible to put these up on any lamppost.
Abusive submitters have a variety of ways for faking trail marker wayspots. I’m not saying you are being abusive, but it can be necessary to provide evidence you are not.
this one got accepted like few hours before without a prove aswell so idk
Waymarked Trails - Wanderwege
I’m just guessing
There is a big difference between these two submissions - the one that was accepted has a recognisable colourful trail marker (I even recognise it from previous threads about this area). The rejected one just as the letter/symbol trail markers. It might be that reviewers are struggling to see these as trail markers.
Using web submit at Niantic Wayfarer, you can provide up to 5 additional images. This could be used to show that these are definitely trail markers, making sure you include links in the supporting text, if you can find suitable images.
Exactly, the blue one is simply the Camino de Santiago (Jakobsweg), and the other white markers clearly show the Taunusklub route. Since the reviewers for this area are from Germany, they really should recognize these official signs.
But yes, next time I will definitely include an official link to the trail website in the supporting text to avoid any confusion, even though I haven’t seen any other submitters do that around here yet
Not having streetview for on-street trail markers makes your job harder than in the UK. When there is no streetview, I have the luxury of creating photospheres using a legacy app, but without this I would be using openstreetmap or a UK rights-of-way website, as I want to make sure I have sufficient proof.
A lot of reviewers are lazy and will just accept without evidence. A lot of submitters are lazy and make reviewers (those who want evidence) go and find the evidence themselves. Neither of these are ideal. I feel it’s worth putting in the extra effort to avoid a rejection.
well look at this sometimes i dont understand die community
Google Maps Elkerhausen - ein Schmuckstück am Weinbach - limburgweilburg-entdecken.de it was perfectly described with a link still rejected
I can’t see what the rejection reason is - google translated it as “Objection is being processed”, which makes no sense.
That’s Google Translate speak for “appeal pending”
sry the rejection reason is: Not Permanent or Distinct.. i Appealed
That will be:
“reviewers did not think the object meets any criteria (exercise, explore, social) and wanted to explicitly reject it, so reject for not “permanent and distinct” because that is the advice from Scopely Explore”
But this is an official venue and listed as a tourist attraction on the region’s official website, which I have also linked
