didn’t it used to say an hour?

I do believe it is specific to just the AMA posts to discourage discussion in those topics.

ah. i did see a comment on one post earlier, so maybe that was done to make it impossible to comment on the topics. that seems like a lost opportunity for discussion, but is not my decision.

edit: that post was removed by request from the submitter.

I’m sure there are mixed reasons and staff & Ambassadors will consider what worked well and what didn’t this time - each AMA has had a different method of collecting questions and community involvement.

It looks like the community is encouraged to discuss questions in the thread

I think that could have been more clear and sometimes those comments are more organic (and organized) when allowed to happen in the original thread.

We’ll see how things go!

I have to wait a year before I can respond to this post.

I did reply on 1 earlier and it was then correctly moved to the “AMA Discussion” thread. Is it not possible to “lock” these posts at least until a time when staff want us to discuss?

Seems like causing work for Ambassadors…

It’s not possible

Yeah, I was confused at first when I saw the notice to wait a year, but I didn’t know yet that we had an AMA coming, and how staff is collecting the questions this time around.

I mean, we were on the old forums for the last one, and I’d imagine that some questions didn’t get answered due to the clutter of the thread. This makes the organization a little easier, and staff can see which questions we’d like answered the most as well by liking them.

This seems like a perfectly good proxy method for locking the thread, since it can’t actually be locked. It performs exactly the same purpose - keeps the questions clear, with discussions elsewhere, which is exactly what Niantic want.

It’s Scopely now.

Niantic still exist and are owned by Scopely.

Niantic Spatial also exists, but is referred to as “Niantic” by Ingress players.

They seem to still be referring to themselves as Niantic, so I am, too. https://pokemongohub.net/post/news/pokemon-go-fest-returns-to-chicago-2026-2027/

P.S. Curiously, the agreement still refers to Niantic, despite being purchased by Scopely, so we are continuing that verbiage in this article as well.

It actually allows everyone to make 1 reply, it would not then allow you to make a 2nd for 1 year.

I accidentally did this, an Ambassador had to move it.

Ah, not /perfectly good/ but /best-as-can-be/

Oh, this post popped up again. I wanted to add this screen snip from Niantic Support’s Facebook page, but couldn’t find where we were talking about what to call them:
