OP look into Pokémon Go’s Community Campsite system. It circumvents the wayfarer shenanigans and allows a person to establish stops and gyms on their own.
Might be the best remedy for communities lacking wayferable-esque POIs.
Good point.
Maybe one of those field areas?
I have no idea how it all works.
Thanks for the photos
That areal looks beautiful. With these photos I’ve also the tendency to “pocket park”.
But, like Elli said, you would need an anchor point. And a good description how it serves the community. While reading up about pocket parks I found out that they’re exactly what you’re talking about. Smaller green spaces to do light exercise, play or come together.
You’ve said that the bridge has been a wayspot and is now removed? Have you tried to get it restored?
Even though it is nice to get reactions on my post, i do think we all miss the main point of why i wrote the post i wrote.
In Summary
I am not advocating for arbitrary placement of stops and gyms, but for a revision of the criteria that takes into account the characteristics of smaller towns and suburbs. Adding Wayspots at small green spaces and public areas within residential neighborhoods can improve accessibility, social interaction, and the overall gaming experience. This would be a step toward greater inclusivity and a fairer distribution of play locations, allowing everyone to enjoy Pokémon GO and the benefits of being outdoors, regardless of where they live.
This is what it is about.
Not about nitpicking over who falls into the elderly or lesser mobility catagory.
Not about are hostorical points dominating the waypoints.
Not about if you feel comfterble sitting down at a playground.
Not about abusing the rules and nominating your frontyard for a waypoint.
It is about places outside the innercitys that fall true the cracks of the criteria and that in my opinion should be included to the game and will improve the game play for many people.
It keeps getting denied. And as said it is not a parc. Its a piece of green you walk past or walk true.
There is no way you can exersice here or play football.
In the winter however you can ice skate here.
But as said it keeps getting denied.
I think you have this flipped. Wayfarer enables players to submit existing real life objects or places that are already great places to be social, to exercise, or to explore. This in turn, affects the playability of a location and players will increase interaction at these locations. The effect cannot be the cause in this regard.
The distribution of wayspots ultimately lies in the presence of eligible items which may include designated outdoor recreational areas. As explained by other comments, it is so far allowed but the difficulty of submitting one can be extremely frustrating.
The problem is that each location has disproportionate spaces for leisure in reality. Suburbs and smaller towns intrinsically may have less spaces compared to bustling cities. In some tangent, Wayfarer may be looking for this “bustle” if you equate this with leisure spaces.
As such, the solution should lie on change outside Wayfarer e.g. in real life.
If you want me to keep it simple my answer is “No”.
Rural areas complain about cities haveing more objects to nominate.
Cities complain that Rural areas get all the Trail Markers.
I complain that I am somewhere in the middle, worse of both worlds.
This is a real world game, you play it with what you get.
The only way to make it really “fair” would be to get rid of the real world nominations and have a wayspot in the center of every Level 17 cell.
Denied by the ML? Here are ongoing observations that the ML prefer to reject photos of nature. An appeal would be the right way to go on.
When I asked you how that looks like I was afraid that you will show something like this:
But you’ve shown something that can be eligible (without changing or stretching the criterias) if you make a case out of it.
Ok, it’s no park.
Ok, you can’t play football there.
But you can do Yoga or jump rope.
You can socialize with your neighborhood.
The netherlands have great projects in sense of climate. These greenspaces have purpose.
To stay focussed on your suggestion: I don’t think that overwork of criterias is needed because recreation areas like you’ve shown can be eligible with the given criterias.
With a UK outlook (so no worry as I won’t be reviewing ) I would struggle with accepting this.
Almost looks like (quite a nice) drive to park you car on.
How far would you go, in the UK each council will have areas that they keep planted up for the community but I wouldn’t nominate those.
Again, with UK eyes I would struggle to know if this was communal or belonged to either of the houses.
Probablly there’s a misunderstanding. I’ve asked the OP to begin of the conversation how grassy areas they’re talking about look like and showed now what I thought they were talking about. That isn’t a nomination
This problem should be solved by the PoGo Management by improving the system.
This is not a problem for Wayfarer to solve.
Assuming PoGo Management see it as a problem. They see the profit they are making and go “Yes, Everything is fine”.
IMO: I don’t think that many people see it as a problem.
Much as I have empathy with the frustration of seeing some places filled with wayspots and others much more sparse, when I decided to play Pokémon Go I understood it was a real life game and as such it was fundamentally different from other games.
Part of that difference is the randomness of the wayspots, which appear in the games.
What I have learnt through this forum is global differences and availability of potential wayspots.
It’s huge and very varied.
It would be very difficult to write detailed criteria that would paper over those cracks equally in all areas…..you would probably find that those areas already dense in pokestops would become denser too.
On a global basis defining rules on when an area ( whatever size that may be ) might qualify for special treatment would not be easy and there would probably be a new set of upset people just on the margins.
Real life has its lumps and bumps and differences and that is what is reflected in the games. Will some groups of people find it difficult- maybe. I would like games to be as inclusive as possible. There are other very popular games that don’t work for me because of their very nature. I choose not to play those.
I try my best as a wayfinder to submit what I can to make the case to improve areas lacking in wayspots.
Try to work with criteria as best you can, maybe look into campsites with CAs in the game. That is probably your best way forward
I life in a very small village with nothing but houses. So no chance for a poke stop. But it’s noticed that even if you have something worth for a poke stop it’s not accepted if it is in a small village with barely population.
In a big city you can use everything you see. A bakery, a stone, just everything. If a stone lies on the ground even that’s worth of a poke stop in the city. But in a small village nothing is accepted. The only bakery in the village? Sorry that can’t be a poke stop. A statue to remember the fallen of the Second World War? Sorry, that statue only stands there since 80 years, seems a bit temporary. And in the city, “wow someone nailed some wood on this tree with a statement, that’s worth a poke stop even if it is removed tomorrow by authorities”.
I understand why people in villages stop playing Pokémon go. No chance compared to people in the city. We can only raid with remote passes since nobody is here for a raid. So make it extra hard for people in villages by not accepting poke stops even if they are more then worthy.
Hello and welcome @maddy1984
The same criteria for acceptance apply in a city or a village.
If you would like some help with the nominations that didn’t pass we would happy to assist if you post over in Nomination Support. There are also people who love to look around and make suggestions.
With regard to those in a city that you say don’t meet criteria you can show us those for comment.
This has lots of suggestions
It is very easy to look at other nominations and become frustrated when you start to compare. There will be people who live in those cities equally frustrated that their wayspots have not been approved whilst looking at others that have been. It’s a natural reaction. We can’t help with those that are in the system and are the source of annoyance, but we can try to help with your nominations.
If you are happy to state the area many members love to browse the maps and give suggestions. I have not seen any yet that they havent been able to make several suggestions.
In regards to your suggestions.
War Memorial: These are a sure Accept unless there is one of the Reject Criteria stopping it (but I can’t see why) or it is a very bad nomination. Again, if you are happy to screengrab the nomination and post people will help.
Also remember that it is a random mix of the local population that is voting on these, if they are getting rejected it is people from Rural as well as Cities that are voting.
Good luck.
I also live in a very small village with almost nothing but houses. Even so I did not let that stop me from nominating all the stuff I could find that I found to be eligible. Yes, in the beginning the results were very frustrating, disappointing and I wanted to quit for so many times, but I kept going. Now around 4 months later my area has changed. Now a regular of Wayfarer with 70+ accepted wayspots in my small area alone.
Everything is possible, be sure not give up though, because if you do you will indeed get nothing, but if you keep trying you always have a chance!
I would love the criteria to be revised as I live in a small town and have mobility issues due to a car accident . I have tried to get more stops and gyms especially along the river walk. Unfortunately have been unsuccessful due to lack of monuments signage etc . I walk this route all the time and wish there were more stops to spin
Maybe if this post gets enough likes Niantic will have a look at it.
I have no idea how it works to get them to take opinions like ours seriously.
Im just gone leave this post up here and keep my fingers crossed for the best.
Good luck with your mobility issues, i know how much of a struggle they can be <3
The team checks out the forums well enough and has probably seen this already, and decided it was not worth commenting on in their opinion. This might be incorrect, but is the most likely answer.
