Unfairness

I’ve tried my best to get more stops for my community, we are 94 and most of the time we use neighborhood for routes , I have tried over and over to make pokestops but they always get denied, I even ask HOA to put a pavilion and benches so we can make it a stop! But it still got denied! Meanwhile I’ve redivided postcards with, tombstone with the name of The deceased, another called better than s@x
And bars and lounge! But I still can’t get a stop!!! We only got 1 stop and one gym for a neighborhood of thousands :man_facepalming:t2:

Hello and welcome,

Are you willing to share some of your nominations that have been rejected? We’re more than happy here to look at them to see if they do meet criteria, and if you may need to improve on them. A pavilion should be eligible, but it could be that some improvement may be needed for the nomination.

I do see you noted nominating a tombstone, and just want to let you know that graves are ineligible in most cases, as they are considered sensitive.

Bars and lounges may also be ineligible if they have an age restriction, such as 21 and over, and may be seen as adult locations. If they have an area that allows those under a certain age to be, such as a patio or a separate restaurant, those areas may be eligible.

Ineligible location, place, or object

  • Location is an adult-oriented store or service, such as a liquor store, shooting range, f1rearm store, or provides sexual and/or adult content.

You may also want to review Wayspot criteria, as even just a seating bench may be ineligible if it’s just a bench to sit on. You can find the Wayspot criteria here:

I also find the tips for rural areas to be helpful, even in more urban settings:

I share with you the last 3 I tried making, a Punic area by a lake with pavilion and bbq stop, our neighborhood’s garden and a museum piece that sit outside the building and still got denied

Thank you for replying to me I really appreciate that

Are you able to provide screenshots of your nominations? Some of these look promising, especially the gazebo and caboose, but knowing all of what was submitted would be most helpful, as well as the rejection reasons. You can find them in Contribution Management on the Wayfarer website.

I think I found the caboose, and it already has a Wayspot on the Lightship map:

I don’t know if that is what you needed but I will do anything to help, it hasn’t been fair, we ask the apartment managers for a gazebo for picnics but to be honest we just need something that we could turn into a stop

Oh that’s what is called, but the ones in my neighborhood are all denied I don’t know what to do

I’d hold off on appealing right now, as we only get 2 appeals every 20 days, and there could be improvements made.

Ok, so you mentioned Pokémon in the description, so ML, the AI system, may have seen that as influencing reviewers. It’s best not to mention any game terms in the title or descriptions, unless you mention Pokémon for a trading card shop that sells said cards.

What we are actually doing is creating Wayspots, not stops/gyms for PoGo, or portals for Ingress. Because of this, you want your titles and descriptions to accurately describe the place without trying to influencing any one game or one set of players.

It seems that this gazebo is around 28.064816189596623, -81.5515671716406, and Street View is out of date; it dates back to 2008. So, your supporing photo needs to show the gazebo with the surrounding area, not just the surrounding area. The density of the trees also make it hard to spot from satellite view.

Here’s an example of a picnic shelther at a highway rest area I submitted last month. It may help you improve on the gazebo nomination.

You have to take the photos of the object yourself, dont take a photo from the internet or a photo of a computer screen. AND DEFINITELY DO NOT SUBMIT FAKE NOMINATIONS.

Hello and welcome @scarletspeed21

It is very natural to get frustrated when you visit some places and see lots of pokestops and gyms and yet there are very few around where you are.
This sometimes happens. In areas that are clearly residential focussed., especially developments in the USA, there is very little other than housing, and single family residential property is just not eligible. Pokémon Go has chosen this method of using real places to reflect in game activity. You need to work with it.
@DTrain2002 has given a lot of information about what is acceptable so do read that.
What @Trollfarer has pointed out is that some of your attempts to get stops are showing as objects that are not there. The deep frustration and sense of unfairness you are feeling has drawn you to try and create pokestops that are fake in order to get what you want to make the game playable. Please don’t do this. It is viewed as a serious issue by Niantic and it can result in you losing your Pokémon go account. In other words in trying to make the game better to play you may not be able to play at all.

What you can do.
You can start again but this time try to work with what you do have and some help and support from experienced wayfinders. There is a lot to learn so be willing to learn.
This article is very helpful about what makes a good nomination.

You have said you have spoken to the HOA. What exactly was their response? Are they willing to help improve the area?
A simple picnic area with picnic tables and maybe a communal fixed BBQ or fire pit would all be good. No need for a more expensive large pavillion ( although that would be excellent)
Were they receptive to creating an exercise walking route?
Some information boards about wildlife at ponds?

I’m going to move this to nomination support and I’ll tag @BlameJamal who likes nothing better than to look at an area for ideas.

We are happy to offer a helping hand and good advice, p,ease take it.

Thank you for the advice, yes is frustrating, I’m a veteran that did A LOT of airborne jumps and my knees are destroyed, although I don’t mind walking and get some exercise it is ridiculous the distance between the only gym and pokestop in my area! But I don’t know which location you think is fake if I could write Niantic in the grass I would… but I will revisit all of y’all advice and suggestions and work on again! Thanks friend

The picture of the gazebo looked off to me so I searched it and found it was copied from here: Gazebo at Lake 5 South - Santee Lakes.

The use of third-party photos is prohibited because it is a copyright infringement. It could result in negative consequences for your account.

I was about to post this too. It was very easy to find the image online, and it’s very obvious from the screenshots they submitted that they took a picture of a computer screen with the image on.

In case you are not aware, it is very easy to check for third party photos with Google Lens.

Tagging the correct person now.

I know it can be frustrating to have your submissions refused, but using third-party pictures ans submitting fake way spots (the gazebo is in California) wil get your account banned.

If you like, some people in this forum are quite good at looking around maps and finding potential submissions for you. Also, getting feedback before submitting can be useful, and may help prevent any submissions that could cause you trouble.

I would ask them to put up a Little Free Library in a common area for the community. Those are great for the neighborhood, and are almost always accepted as Wayspots. But make sure to prove that it exists where you are pinning it with your supporting photo.

This can be the case, that there is not much eligible. When the whole neighborhood is SFPRP (single family private residential property) there can be nothing to submit. This was the case in my neighborhood until recently, when the town constructed a greenway through the easements to connect the local parks. But a large portion of the neighborhood still has to walk to access a game location.

I don’t understand this.

We don’t have these in my neighborhood, so I may be talking about a different situation that you are. As others have said, if you are not worried about revealing your location on the internet, we will be happy to look around for actual candidates you could submit legitimately and hopefully successfully.

Well like I said I’ve tried everything, but besides a dog park that got also denied we don’t have nothing else and I have limited mobility due to injuries sustained in combat, we have a lake and they said no, a statue of a pig that been here for 5 years they called it…” seasonal “ I’m in very rural areas away from load noises but there nothing else around here
