I hope this leads to legal consequences, personally.
This spoofer still lives in this city and mostly spoofs within the city. That is why he is still playing with two lvl 50 accounts. But when you appear on three different showcases, that are kilometers apart in last minute of the showcases (we have screenshots that he wasnt in them before), or attack gym in the middle lf the lake and there is clear visibility to few km in all directions on the ice of the lake, and no one is seen there in person ect, its not hard to count 1+1=2. Add that he himself has multiple times admitted he cheats at Discord, but multiple reports of him have not lead to anything. I would assume that lifetime walking distance on +200 000km, adding +200km every day, would raise some alarms⊠But nopeâŠ
That said, we are not sure this is done by the same person, but most community believe it is. However, as I stated. Admins have access to logs and data we dont, so we prefer to let them try to sort this out.
Also, messing up graffitis and murals is normal. But memorial plaques, war time memorials and other truly important stuff ISNT!
Thanks for sharing these examples. Iâll look into these and reinstate the ones that do not violate any other policies.
While Niantic does encourage all players to abide by local laws, as stated in the gameâs Terms of Service and as reiterated through in-game warnings and notifications, we ultimately cannot control or be responsible for how individual users elect to act or behave on their own volition. If players engage in unlawful behavior, we encourage you to work with local law enforcement to address the issue, as you would with other individuals in your community.
Thats great to hear but submitting info on every lost stop/waypoint is a huge job! Especially considering that we seem to lose 5-10 POI every day. Also it doesnt prevent the future POIâs from being abused. A long term solution, if possible, would be to disable this players possibility to continue doing this. Assuming that there is clearly a single or few accounts that are doing this.
And again, we have contacted Police, city of Rovaniemi and Local Museum officers about these as well but you must understand that something like this isnt high on their priority list.
Thank you for the effort though!
I asked local community to provide me as accurate list with coordinates and photos.
Niantic are able to ban player accounts when they perceive the system is being abused. This means that Niantic can, and do, apply punishments in order to control how individual users elect to act or behave on their own volition.
I donât want to go into details to prevent our policies from being abused. This is not as black and white as you have made it sound. There are nuances to it.
We do not support or endorse any bad behavior at all. We do encourage our users to be safe and alert at all times, abide by local laws, and respect the locations they visit and people they meet during their exploration. We advise our players to review and follow the player Guidelines at all times while playing our games to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone!
Having said that, it is important to let the law of the land take its course and let law enforcement handle real life situations.
I hope you understand.
Edit: I wanted to make it clear that this message should not be viewed in context any actions we will take/not take. We will follow our internal guidelines and policies like we do in all other cases.

Are these all PoGo gyms? Or both gyms and stops? And are there completely new gyms now replacing the removed PoIs?
It sounds like someone wants new gyms in place of old ones - perhaps to get more golden gym badges. Canât really think of any other reason for such an âoperationâ.
If it can be proven that these spots were deliberately damaged in order to harm the people in the region and to ruin the communityâs enjoyment of the game, wouldnât it be a good idea to at least add these wayspots as sponsored points? That way, at least some basic infrastructure would be available so that players can still enjoy the game?
About 5-6 of them were gyms and rest just wayspots. Our first assumption was that one particular player wanted âhome gymâ. But then word got around that vandalizations were done in much larger area and they didnt stop even though that one player got his âhome gymâ.
Also to SaoKirit0. Luckily most of center has plenty of POI. Even though we lost multiple gyms, new were already added. Same thing happened to many pokestops but not all. However, people are used to go to certain places for raid hours and such. It is no longer possible due to gyms switching position. However, that is not the worst. We lost like +5 showcase Pokestops from the city center. There actually isnt a single showcase left in the center! When Pokestop with showcase is deleted, new one isnt introduced into its cell. It is simply gone. Yes, they were extremely competive but that just showed that people participated in them. Same thing happened around University of Lapland area. They lost few showcases there. In order for player in those areas to get into any showcase, they have to walk up to 3-4km now.
But the problem is still that by vandalizing other peoples property, one or two individuals can affect the experience of few hundret other players and while doing that, ruin culture historically important objects like memorials.
Itâs not for their own gain but taking something away from others.
Vandalizations keep happening. But the first one is still in game BUT 100% someone, the person who did this, has made delete requests on it!
On the other side all the plaques were also vandalized and POI removed from game
Walked thru city center today during CD and there was dozens of vandalizations like this. If possiblwe, block all edits in Rovaniemi until this is solved!
Report all the other instances of vandalism to your law enforcement. Iâm sure itâll be much higher on their priority than just a single instance.
If police can connect these acts to this game, they can submit a warrant to Niantic for the user who reported them gone, get the IP address of that user, and then submit a warrant to the service provider who manages that IP to get information about the real person.
Ai ettÀ pistÀÀ vihaksi, ettÀ joku kehtaakin tuhota yhteistÀ omaisuutta tÀllÀ tavalla ja vielÀ ettÀ Pokemon Go:n takia!
Same in english. Police, city and city museum officials have all been informed. According to other local players, there have also been eyewitnesses with pictures on social media. But since I have seen just screen captures, I dont know if that information has been referred to police.
Out of pure stubbornness, the destroyed wayspots should be kept and preserved as a timestamp of art. After all, thereâs a saying that you donât negotiate with terrorists, and in my eyes this is the same kind of attack on art objects. Itâs only done because, in one way or another, it works â and because thereâs a supposed loophole in the system
